Serbia's Olympic Committee President, Bozidar Maljkovic, announces star lineup for Paris 2024, including Nikola Jokic.
In an interview with Juan Jimenez of AS.com, Bozidar Maljkovic, the President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia and a legendary basketball coach, made a significant announcement.
He revealed that Nikola Jokic is set to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Maljkovic shared this news while reflecting on Serbia's second-place finish in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
"We didn't have NBA MVP, Nikola Jokic. Neither Vasilije Micic, the MVP of the EuroLeague. Nor Nikola Kalinic. I think we come together and get the best out of us, as in all sports," he said. "I can be proud of Novak Djokovic's season and Ivana Spanovic [Serbian long jumper], who won gold in the 2023 World Athletics Championships.
"By the way, I already announced that in Paris, they will be all, Jokic included. The Paris Games will be a party, and I am confident that Serbian sport will have a large participation."
Jokic, who took a break this past summer following an NBA championship run with the Denver Nuggets, is a crucial addition to the Serbian national team.
Having previously represented Serbia at three major FIBA competitions -- the 2016 Rio Olympics, FIBA World Cup 2019, and FIBA EuroBasket 2022 -- Jokic clinched a silver medal in 2016.
