Man City are defo paying someone for these draws
State of that pitch United are playing on at Tranmere this weekend. It'll definitely be a leveller...
...it'll bring Tranmere down to our level.
Ronnie Radford's goal will be being churned out all over the weekend back at home.
In 1990 United won their first trophy under Fergie with the 3rd round win at Forest allegedly saving him his job after a season of turmoil not unlike the current one. I missed that game though for some reason and, unable to endure the last 10 minutes watching it on the telly, I sat in my bedroom hoping and praying that we'd pull through. Anyway, we did and many will say that the following years of domination wouldn't have been possible were it not for that Mark Robins goal.
Hereford Utd away was our 4th round tie and Ronnie Radford's goal against Newcastle in 1972 had been the opening scene on virtually every football programme that week. We'd managed to get tickets after queuing from 5am in the middle of January for one of the 5,000 or so; that experience in the freezing cold was almost as miserable as the football we were enduring at the time. However, come the week of the game, it was in danger of being postponed due to the heavy rains that the country had been battered by, but the weather forecast looked better for that part of England come Sunday morning, so off we went on one of the official club coaches (one of the first times and the last times) with my old man and my mate. We had our Coca Cola and sandwiches and my dad had his flask of coffee and Cointreau. I do recall that the alcohol to brew ratio might have been slightly uneven.
Apart from the sodden fields on the way down, the journey was uneventful, as was the game for most of the 90 apart from the sight of a fucking cow being brought around the pitch before the game. There were a couple of half chances for both teams, but it looked like it was heading for a 0-0 draw until the last minute when Mike Duxbury got down the right to cross for the much maligned Clayton Blackmore, who would go on to be our player of the season in the following ECWC campaign of 90-91, to slot it into the bottom corner. Cue delirium in the United end and a happy journey back up norf.
Hopefully, I'll be updating this thread with more FA Cup memories until May. The next round was Newcastle away (and much more eventful).

I fancy Tranmere to turn Mediocre Utd over today, 9.5 to 1 get on it.
