You have to be pulling your own leg eh

One of the greatest boxes pound for pound of all time...and he fought a MMA fighter.

George forman was 45 when he beat MM.

There was no challenge really. It all went to plan, Mayweather never got out of second gear.

I cannot see there being much interest in a re match
As its been shown that MMA ers are no match for boxers .
Any potential re match would only have any interest if they fought again under MMA rules .
I cannot see Mayweather getting into the ring under MMA rules , unless the purse was too big not to accept

^ I concede... I used the wrong word *difficult*... it was an awkward, frustrating fight - would be more accurate... and Conor was toast as soon as he started to run out of gas...

Fair play to Mayweather... no point in a re-match or anything ridiculous as the outcome would be exactly the same. Conor is not silly, he knows this - and will do the smart thing and return to the UFC... or live happily ever after or his earnings...

No boxer with a brain would entertain a fight with a competent MMA fighter... as that would be even more clear-cut (in fact much more clear-cut) i.e. 1 round... than this was... horses for courses innit...

EDIT: I wonder what would have happened had Conor not gassed? nah... forget that Q. I'm not one for what if this, what if that.. it is what it is... the sweet Science has been perfected - to think someone can re-invent the wheel and get the better of 100's of years of refinement of that art... what were we thinking? 555

Bollocks, if the ref hadn't saved him he would have been knocked spark out.
Harry, which part of my post did you not understand ?
He doesn't deserve credit for avoiding a knockout thanks to the ref.

Did you see the punch that MM, (A very good boxer) got dropped by. Have you ever heard the expression "A punchers chance" Do you know why that expression is bandied about? Just for fun eh...

Ever heard of Bernard Hopkins? He was such a loser at 39-40 years old.

Mayweather was just tapping him around like one of his bitches to "make it a fight", then got serious and finished the job.

46 when he won his last championship against Jean Pascal, incredible win and he looked 30.

Get ready for GGG vs Canelo in 3 weeks
It wasn't "boxing", it was an "Event". There have been some great actual boxing matchups so far this year, with the highlight being Canelo-GGG on Sept 16th as stated by Dillinger.

If you don't know about it, you just ain't a fan. Period.

I trekked from Chockchai down to Rextox in Soi Lengkee this morning to watch this not realising it was getting shown on Ch23. I could have just sat on my couch in my underpants instead of squeezing into the star wars saloon listening to all the experts screaming at the big screen.
For the record i felt that Mayweather did well to carry him for so long. The fans got their moneys worth and no doubt Floyd v Connor 2 is now getting planned.

Yes he is a good dancer. Cant fight much. Wouldnt last a minute in a real fight.
Take a look at his fight record. He has beaten some of the worlds most elite boxers. Its ridiculous to say he cant fight much.

^ Agree.. credit where it's due...

Although Conor's effort was commendable - he was defeated and would have been KO'd 'stiff' heh... had the ref not stopped it.

Hats off to Floyd, the better man (boxer) won. Let's put this one to bed - the MMA vs boxer debacle has been played out... the boxer beat the MMA star (at boxing)... the end.

I know it, Conor knows it... now everyone knows it... the sports are too specialized to mix... not fair on the boxer, nor the non-boxer and not fair on the fans too IMO.

Just like it would be if Floyd was to fight under MMA rules... in fact, it would be much, much, worse (for Floyd)..

Some things I'm repeating from the 2 boxing forums I visited (which does not mean all agree with comments made there) called:

    https://www.boxingforum24.com/

    FightHype Fan Zone

    1. Conner is not a hard puncher when boxing and did not use his shoulder to propel punches.

    2. Obviously we saw that Mayweather used the Peeka-boo defense for about 6-7 round before opening up more when it was obvious that Connor was out of gas.

Mayweather did not use his famous "shoulder roll" b/c it's apparently not good against lefties.

Here are some stunning stats and analysis on Mayweather.

    He truly is unique:

Conner did not go the distance. It was scheduled as a 12-round fight and he was TKoed in the 10th.

Also, it was Mayweather strategy to get CM tired out.

Just look at the first 6-7 rounds.

CM has a longer reach and a different rangy style. Mayweather played it smart.

It is not better to go for a KO or TKO early in a fight.

In retrospect, what happened is not surprising.
According to previous opponents, Mayweather is freakishly fit and does not tire. So all he had to do was avoid being knocked out , let Connor tire himself out, and then go in for the kill.
