No, seriously, not politicking - rather giving an example of . . . . sigh . . . but it is relevant to the . . . sigh . . .Originally Posted by chassamui

If aussie deserve this momentum, they will need to annihilate the next opposition. Onward and upwards.
Rugby World Cup: Six things we learned from Wales' win - Sport - NZ Herald News
Herald columnist Chris Rattue looks at six things we learnt from Wales' win over England this morning.
4) England's captain is a problem
Chris Robshaw is a decent loose forward, but he is not an openside. Having a cart horse at No. 7 is limiting even by England's traditionally dour standards.
5) Even his captaincy is questionable...
...after a ridiculous front of the lineout move in the final moments. It exposed the ball to the touchline, and Robshaw's fellow forwards didn't even seem to know what was on, giving Wales an easy job defending the half-hearted drive and securing the win. All those coaches, all those laptops, all those gizmos...
Some fair points in this article.
Pressure: How England collapsed - Sport - NZ Herald NewsOriginally Posted by can123
If there were any doubt about the role pressure will play at this World Cup, there won't be now following the collapse of England at Twickenham.
And it was a collapse. Wales can and should be lauded for their bravery; for their depth of character, graft and moment of inspiration that saw them conjure a try to haul their way back into the contest.
But long before Gareth Davies touched down under the posts, England should have had the game wrapped up.
It was theirs. They had it just about in the bag when they led 22-12 early in the second half. The foot was on the throat at that point.
Cannot321, you're like a child, trolling every thread. Enjoy Wales' win, they deserved it for their efforts, and I'd like to see them do well in the rest of the tournament, but try to act like a grown up.

Good result for All Blacks. We have a man on the inside.
The game next Saturday will be another great game; I wouldn't like to call that either although you might give the Convicts the edge due to the breakdown advantage.
It has been an excellent WC so far. While I'm not too bothered if England go out at the group stage (if you're not good enough, you're not good enough...), it's almost always good for tournaments for the home team to get to the latter stages.
You would do well to rid yourself of the arrogance so typically associated with English rugby supporters. England lost. Live with it and acknowledge that Wales were the better team. Wales displayed guts, England didn't.Originally Posted by Bettyboo
I agree...a draw wasn't any good so they had to go for the win...but throwing to the front of the lineout was a bad decision...Robshaw againOriginally Posted by chassamui

and why won't Australia beat England. The Poms aren't fit for 80 minutes and that showed...the Aussies will have figured that out and run them off the park like Wales did...but only betterOriginally Posted by Bobcock
Yet more arrogance ! Has it ever occurred to you that the kick was probably the most difficult either team had faced in the entire game. It was only a couple of metres from the touch line and it was certainly not a guaranteed three points.Originally Posted by Bettyboo
Had England scored a try you would have been saying how bloody marvelous they were.
There were 40 or so men who displayed a lot of 'guts' on that field; you cannot question the commitment or bravery of any player on show; in that regard, it was a test match of the highest quality. Your idiotic trolling just insults rugby players and watchers. I will no longer be engaging with your trolling...Originally Posted by can123

As has been commented by many recently, the likes of England and France get 'dominance' at scrum time by the no1 boring in - that needs to be stopped globally (they're all at it). England also consistently went over the ball with hands on the floor and scooping back (as Ireland do), and that is being stopped, so we were very stupid to do it...

The Bokk 5 and 7 were also superb cheats against Samoa; they know and do every trick in the Neil Back Special Christmas Edition of Richie McCheat's Book of Top Cheating Tips.Originally Posted by pseudolus
Hooper and the other Convict 7s (playing at 6 and 8) are also constantly at it; slowing ball down, playing the ball when they've already gone off their feet, lying on the wrong side, the list goes on - a lot of it this WC (and every game of rugby globally?). The breakdown is sooooooo essential; why the fuk haven't we got out best breakdown player in the squad???
Off to Elland road, see if I can convert the daughter into a mad jock fan like the misses, might be a bit of a hard task though as she's shown no interest so far but maybe seeing a game live and the atmosphere will change that. Will try get some pics.
Bettyboo displays the true sportsmanship of the typical English rugby supporter.
Total prat !

Cannot321, you don't remember the red you sent me a couple of pages back? Your trolling on multiple threads has become really tedious.
You have set yourself up as an authority on all things to do with rugby. I am not trolling but am just exposing you for the unsporting cry baby that you are.Originally Posted by Bettyboo
If you disagree with my views say so and attempt to substantiate your own. There is only one child here and by sending me a "red" you have shown that it is you.
Now, get stuffed, loser.
I am sorry you find it tedious when others express views which are contrary to yours.Originally Posted by Bettyboo

Much as I respect Bettyboo's views, I'm 100% with chassamui on this.
A modicum of planned pressure and discipline would have given England a 90% chance to make the winning try. Criticize the captain for the pathetic "execution" but not for the lineout call itself.
I'm not sure about the 90%. What % of lineouts are converted to tries from that position? I'm not sure of the statistics, but it must be a lot less than 10%.Originally Posted by eceg
Now, if you had a rolling maul from a lineout functioning like the Convicts or the Bokks have had in their last games then maybe it'd be a good decision.
Anyways, what do you folks think of the performance of our forwards coach? I'm not impressed because our scrum, lineouts and rolling mauls haven't functioned at the level I'd have expected. We seem to be a lot worse in these areas than we were 12 months ago, or even 6 months ago.
