Yeah looks to me as if Liverpool have handled a difficult situation well here.

I reckon they must have said to his agent last summer 'Get him to sign this improved deal and we'll let him leave overseas if the right offer comes in next year'

Looks like this deal benefits everyone.

    an unfortunate pose ?
looks like he might arrive wearing a pair of Paul Gascoin fake plastic tits

Chelsea have made their third major signing of the summer, and second from Atletico Madrid, after the Spanish champions confirmed a deal for Filipe Luis had been agreed.
Pending a medical, the Brazilian left-back will sign for the West Londoners for a fee of around £20m, following on from Diego Costa’s £32m move from the same club.
The 28-year-old joined the Rojiblancos from Deportivo La Coruna in 2010 and played a key role in winning two UEFA Super Cups, the 2012 Europa League, the 2013 Copa del Rey and 2014 La Liga, as well as starring in the club’s run to last season’s Champions League final.
The Brazil international has four caps but failed to make the cut for Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad, with Real Madrid’s Marcelo and Paris Saint-Germain’s Maxwell preferred ahead of him.
Along with Cesar Azpilicueta, Luis will help fill the void left by Ashley Cole, who joined Roma on a two-year deal when the Blues failed to offer him an extension.

I'm sure that most will have seen that Adidas have signed a deal for kit supply to Man United for 10 years from the 2015/15 season for GBP 750,000,000 (75 million a year)!

This is only slightly less than the Glazers paid for the club back when, and coupled with the new Chevrolet sponsorship, AON sponsoring their Carrington training facility, and their myriad of other global deals, make this an incredible amount.

Getting it into context, Arsenal's recently (last January) shirt deal gets them 30 million a year, and Real Madrid are getting 31 million a year.

Adidas forecast the deal will nett them 1.5 billion over the next 10 years.

Going to be interesting to see where this money is going to land, though in fairness, the Glazers have never been found wanting if SAF wanted a particular player, and I can't see that changing for Van Gaal (Moyes didn't really have time to make an impact in the transfer market, though using Fellaini as a template, thank God for that!).

Bojan Krkic: Stoke sign Barcelona forward on four-year deal

Stoke City have signed forward Bojan Krkic from Barcelona on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Bojan, 23, made his debut for Barcelona as a 16-year-old but spent last season on loan at Ajax, scoring four times in 24 appearances for the Dutch club.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes said: "Anyone who knows European football will be aware of him as a player and the fact that he sees his future at Stoke City is really exciting."

Bojan won one cap for Spain in 2008.

    Bojan's major trophies

    Spanish La Liga title (2009, 10, 11)
    Copa del Rey (2009)
    Champions League (2009, 11)
    Dutch Eredivisie title (2014)

He has not played for Barcelona since re-signing in 2013 after two years at Roma and has also been on loan at Milan.

Hughes added: "He's desperate to prove himself in the Premier League and we're pleased to be able to offer him that platform."

Bojan was the all-time highest scorer in the Barca youth system, scoring more than 400 goals at La Masia. He went on to score 26 goals for the first team between 2007 and 2011.

Stoke have already signed Phil Bardsley, Steve Sidwell, Mame Biram Diouf and Dionatan Teixeira this summer.

Manchester City Under-21s walk off over alleged racial abuse

Manchester City Under-21s walked off during a friendly in Croatia after one of their players was allegedly racially abused by an opponent.

The game against HNK Rijeka was abandoned after the incident involving French midfielder Seko Fofana, who was sent off after an off-the-ball clash

City said: "A decision was taken by the management staff to withdraw from the field and cancel the game."

The City team is coached by former France international Patrick Vieira.

A statement from Rijeka read: "Manchester City coach Patrick Vieira entered the field, something was discussed with the referee, and then to the amazement of a well-filled stadium he took his team off the pitch.

"What are the reasons? They are known only to him."

City added that club representatives are liaising with officials, the match organisers and the Croatian Football Association to pursue the matter further.

Fofana, 20, joined City from French club Lorient in 2013 but has yet to make his first-team debut.

Occasions when teams have walked off the pitch over racism are rare, with AC Milan's friendly at Italian lower division club Pro Patria in January 2013 the highest profile occurrence.

Milan's Kevin-Prince Boateng sparked the walk-off - and the end of the game - by picking up the match ball and kicking it into the crowd following racially abusive chants from the crowd.

In October, City midfielder Yaya Toure called for stronger action against racism after he was subject to chanting from CSKA Moscow fans

Yeah you know it Harry.. as a local I can tell you we're all pretty gloomy about what has happened, but Koeman has made some significant signings and though it's not the team we wish it was, we still have to get behind them and hope.

(that they can remain in the PL until the club is sold to someone that cares about more than just the share price)

    C'mon you Reds.!
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

    Better than Boruc..?

We're going to need him to be, we lost too many advantages to second half goals last season, and with Lovren, Shaw and Chambers gone from the defense the Southampton net is an easier target.

Liverpool get a pretty good write up

    BBC Radio Merseyside's Ian Kennedy:
Prediction: "Interesting to see how they cope without Luis Suarez and with Champions League football but I think they'll finish in the top four and be in the mix for the title."
Summer recruitment: "Dejan Lovren was an important buy because the defence needed strengthening. Lallana has obvious quality - perhaps they still need another top class striker."
One to watch: "Jordan Ibe - we've seen glimpses of his ability and is in the same mould as Raheem Sterling, Lallana or Philippe Coutinho along that front line. May get more opportunities."
I would post pictures but life's too short.

Exactly the start the manks didn't want. I reckon the wheels could fall off big time again just like they did last season. It's hard to come back from a very bad start to a season.
