The Landers have been building to this for a few years...it hasn't been an overnight wonder...also the Canes fluked the win over the Chiefs with a dud refs call...and then the Chiefs and Landers had to deal with the super 15 gerrymander that got a South African and Australian above them in the playoffs...the Tahs never deserved to be where they were...good on the Landers for dorking them...a very impressive team effort.

Bruce, better to keep quiet and allow people to think you're a bit stupid than to open your trap and prove it.

Yeah, and he's in the WC squad too - we, obviously, picked the only small Fijian born since 1674...

He is a decent player, but I thought the point of getting a Fijian was to get a big one??? He's about a third of the size of Burgess. All our wingers are on the small size which is a problem at this level. Back in the days when we used to win things we'd have Cohen on a wing who was a fair size and somebody like the wizard Robinson on the other wing.

The damn CKBs have a lot of good wingers who are big and playing excellent rugby going into the WC.

Wales have a few good and big wingers, not sure about their recent form though.

What did you think of the game Bob?...my concerns were that the Samoans all play in the northern hemisphere and were picking the ball out of our rucks like it was a cherry harvest...not a good sign IMO...but then one has to remind oneself that it was a forward pack dominated by the worst two teams in NZ...on that performance they won't win a game against quality opposition this year...although one would have to ask how a side like England would perform in heat like that and on a hard surface like that.

Sonny Bill Williams says Sam Burgess looks comfortable as a rugby flanker
All Blacks star Sonny Bill Williams believes fellow code-crosser Sam Burgess has found his place in rugby as a back row forward.

Williams gave a thumbs-up to Burgess' bid to make England's World Cup where the two former rugby league stars could resume a rivalry that was a highlight of recent NRL seasons.

Burgess, lured to British rugby after starring for Souths in the Australian league scene, had a difficult introduction to the 15-man game as he was played in the midfield, wearing the No 12 jersey that Williams appears so comfortable in.

But Burgess has shown increasing skills as a blindside flanker with his Bath club and Williams believes that may well be the position to push his cause.

"I don't need to talk him up in his rugby league prowess; he was an amazing talent and he is starting to show glimpses of that in rugby," Williams said of Burgess in an interview with Britain's Daily Mail.

"I think he has probably found his position at No 6 – I watched the (Premiership) final and he was tremendous in that game. Who knows, he could play No 6 or No 12, we'll just have to wait and see.

"I've seen a couple of games that he played at 12 and I saw the final when he was at six and just from watching that game, I felt like he had found the position where he could roam a bit, get a bit more ball, pop up all over the place and bring that physicality that everyone knows he likes to do."
Williams believed Burgess could make the World Cup and his versatility would help him.

"He's in the mix, definitely. Time will tell how he will go at international level but he is handling himself pretty well so it's just a matter of which position I guess."
Williams won a World Cup with the All Blacks in 2011 before returning to rugby league with the Roosters. He is now back in the rugby ranks and looks certain to be part of New Zealand's defence of the cup at the tournament that starts in England in September.

Burgess is with the England squad at an altitude training camp in Denver, United States.

Williams played for the All Blacks against Samoa last Wednesday and is now preparing the for the opening match of the Rugby Championship against Argentina in Christchurch on Friday night."
