3D TV's, Shite IMO, what do you think ?

Was round a mates last night watching The Avengers on a 50 inch 3D TV

I wasn't too impressed and wont be rushing out to get one, even though they are only 50,000 baht.

All the backround is blurred, probably good in a way as it stops you straying through movies and forgetting what the fuks it all about. you can see every pore on the actors faces though, reminds me of the old pop up books

not for me, i hear theres a new HD TV out soon with a load of pixels

Mate i have said exactly the same to friends who have them, just dont get it, and you have to sit like a dick with glasses on watching the TV.

I've got a high-end Samsung ES8200 3D TV- if I watch a Blu-Ray DVD of a movie that was specifically made for 3D it actually looks very good (though the glasses are a hassle)- if I watched regular TV shows in 3D they usually look poor.

Most of the top-of-the-line TVs are 3D now, so it's kind of hard to avoid if you want the best screen with the fastest refresh rate- it's a gimmick, though, and it needs to be improved- hopefully glasses-free 3D will be perfected in the next few years.

If anyone manages to make perfect glasses-free 3D at an affordable price-point, that will be a huge hit- the current problem is figuring out a way so multiple people can watch the same TV from different angles and see the same effect.

I saw a demonstration at Pantip and wasn't impressed, but apparently something better is on the horizon.

While I appreciate the big screen I seldom watch 3D movies. The problem is the selection is very restricted, mostly cartoons. The other problem is when you watch low resolution TV programs or movies, it's really bad.

When I first got it, I was not sure I made the right choice but since I got used to the big screen I'm happy with it. I would certainly not go back to a smaller display. But agree with others, the 3D function is for the time being totally overrated.

The whole 3d TV launch was part of a global conspiracy to boot consumer spending during the GFC. It is at best a "demo" technology, something you might see at a science fair.
The concept of needing to wear 150 dollar glasses while watching the paltry amount of 3d content actually available is patently ludicrous. 6 mates coming over to watch the footy? Yeah, lets go spend a thousand bucks on glasses and all sit around looking like tools. You can sit on and break the glasses afterwards if you like guys.
