Exactly right. We had a built in Teka oven and microwave but they don't last long and then you can't find anything to fit the holes. If ever I'm foolish enough replace our disintegrating kitchen it will be with long work tops and stand alone microwaves and convection ovens and stuff. Nothing built in.

called Shabu Shabu ... yes, missus had a Tom Yam soup to cook hers in and I chose Miso Soup.

I've never been sure what the difference is between a broth, a soup or a stew.

Anyway, this was a lamb one.

    ^^ A little bit!

My daughter is very nearly 10... she's 148cm tall and has the same size feet as her mother. She's the second tallest in her class, most of her mates come up to her shoulders and she wears (UK) clothes for 12/13 year olds.

After 7 months away I came home to a pale, unfit kid carrying extra weight who spent hours in front of the screens. After a month of swimming every day and a diet change she's lost 5kg and now has a lovely sun tan, she's off her tablet (at least some of the time) and is a happy, lively kid. The last thing I wanted to do at her age was have her think about her weight... so I first changed the diet content... swapping a massive bowl of rice for meals with at least half veg... and then have been gradually reducing portion size. It's worked.... or at least it's working and I reckon in another month she'll be back to where she should be with no talk of 'diets' or 'losing weight'. But she's Thai adult size and will never eat 'kid's portions', those days have long gone.

Soup, broth, stew and stock are related. While broth can be called a thin soup, stew is thicker soup with bigger chunks of meat and vegetables. Stock is the juice of the meats and is the base for soups and sauces. ...

^ There was never an 'indiscretion'... I was just doing my thing and there was an unfortunate incident,. Nothing more.

Anyway, whenever I cook up a steak and kidney pie I make a load of mini pies for emergencies.

    Tonight was an emergency.

To be honest I can't describe in words how delicious these pies are.

    Just ask Maya!

Or the other guys... Der Fuehrer was out tonight so we had company!

One thing for sure, TD members eat well.
I always fancied myself a good cook, now I am beginning to feel a bit intimidated

^ Anything under 12cm counts as a 'mini' size where I come from.

    Close... but no banana!

The wife allows Maya, our latest, in the house so I can get away with this although I think she's getting suspicious at the number of footprints the puppy leaves.

It was my Birthday yesterday and in the absence of a cake I had a steak and kidney Birthday pie with a barrel of Mont Clair.

It meant I spent a fair bit of the day cooking up a batch of pies but it was well worth it.

I must admit that these Thais are all very well, but sometimes I wish I'd married a girl who could make a nice pie.
