    ^ Nice work.

I could get used to that although I have given up on evening meals since I started working split shifts four months ago. Breakfast is my holiest of holy with lunch pretty damned important as well.

So I went to my fav BBQ place last night. Smoked brisket, spare ribs, shoestring fries, and mac and cheese...

    Dinner-als6vph-jpg

Found a slice of house made smoked bacon under all that brisket.

That there is Texas BBQ (although it's usually without the mac n cheese when I'm in Dallas). Low and slow in Texas is the way and the meats are always fucking fine.

    Love the stuff.

This is in Washington state but the pit master cooks it Texas style. I have been to Texas on a few occasion and this place holds up to what I have had down there. The only place I go here for BBQ.

I always check the fish area in Makro for bargains, and yesterday they had tuna for 89 Baht.

So, baked lemon tuna it was!

Must admit I'm starting to get a bit despondent with my cooking. My expectations are low, but nevertheless, it would be nice for my daughter not to roll her eyes for once.

When we used to catch tuna in West Africa, the cook would make baked lemon tuna and it was great - all succulent and juicy. Mine came out a bit dry and needed a dollop of mayonnaise.

I was going to try Headworx's recipe for spinach, but we had no coconut milk and I realised I don't actually know what sauteed onions are... so next time. We made do with boiled spinach and a knob of butter!

Dessert was Christmas doughnuts with coconut ice cream and bits of chocolate. The daughter approved.

^ lovely presentation of the desserts (although pea and spinach presentation still has a way to go... ).

That brisket meal looks very good indeed.

Finally got a bite. Wild cod and Patagonian shrimp. A piece of pork roast and a spud.
    Hard work pays.

^^^^ I will take whatever praise I can get, though unfortunately the daughter was lead cook for the desserts!

^^^ I am taking that as the compliment I am sure was intended!

Glad to hear that. I looked at your pic in horror - I would not be able to make a dent in that in one sitting....spread out over 3 or 4 days - maybe...

I could eat that in one go, easy.

Dilly, well, that'd be the first starter...

    ^ haha...

^^ I don't see what the issue is, a quality plate of food like that with a few beers... You'd probably feel hungry a little later in the evening. You never sat with a few mates on a Wednesday evening on a cold a rainy winters night, watching the champions league and ordering in the kebab special delivery group set for the start of the match, everyone brings in a few beers too, then at half time the Chinese delivery turns up (if timed right...). Yummy...

If you're ever in Dallas, people rave about Pecan Lodge downtown, but I've been to this one a couple of times in North Dallas and it was fucking phenomemnomenomenomenomenal. Think I stuck some pics up a while ago.

I've never seen a grill like it and they've got about 40 beers on tap. Just drink and eat until you fall off your stool.
