I've committed now, but what's the worst that can happen?

And yes, Aro peas are like little green bullets. I bought them once but never again.

Strangely enough, the wife's cooked a meal tonight and it doesn't involve peas, so I'll have to wait another day to try out these Wattie's.

The fantastic thing about peas is. They are always in the freezer. Pull the bag out at anytime throw the required amount in a bowl and microwave on high 2.5 minutes add butter and salt . I'm getting a pee hankering just writing this

I used to get through about 500G a week of wattie's peas in KSA.

During COVID a pack of wattie's in the supermarket freezer was quite a giddying sight.

They are at least as good as Talley's imo.

Only a confirmed porker still puts butter on peas.

    Nice one Cyrille!

A closet pea fan, I never knew.

I'm now looking forward to fish an' chips with Wattie's peas this week.

Senorita brought gifts of strange fruits and OAP dinner takeaway this evening

    Dinner-20240616_225732-jpg

I spiced up the OAP lemon chicken by adding pepper, parsley, garlic, ginger and chilli.

She helped me make inroads in the drip cake with some chocolate ice cream as a side

^ A nice lasagne is probably my favourite pasta meal, but I've given up trying to make it. With the layers of sauce and stuff it always turns out incredibly greasy so now I only have it when eating out.

Here's a tip if you're a busy father with little spare time, a hungry daughter who needs nutritious food and a wife who treats the kitchen as nothing more than a storage area for plastic bowls of foul-smelling gunk.

Around 5pm I stick on a baked potato, and a little later add chopped carrots, etc.

Around 5:40pm I stick in a package wrapped in tin foil and maybe simultaneously boil/steam/microwave up some veg.

    6pm and dinner is ready!

Last night the foil package contained a couple of Makro baramundi fillets with a handful of shrimps chucked on top, sliced tomato, olive oil and a knob of butter.

Not bad at all, and only one baking dish to wash up!

Sometimes the foil package contains chicken breasts with chopped bacon and a slice of brie atop, or pork chops with a slice of apple, or a pair of chicken legs, salmon fillets, etc etc. I may even change out the baked spud for oven chips.

Once you have a convection oven and a roll of tin foil, the world's your oyster for a low maintenance, healthy meal for those with little cooking skill and/or interest.

Is that mayonnaise on your baked spud?

That seemed weird to me, but then I remembered I like French fries dipped in mayo. Just never seen it on a baked spud before.

It works OK. I would normally put a knob of butter on a baked spud but the Hellmann's was in front of the butter dish, so the mayonnaise won.

    Chop some garlic into it.

    Delicious.

We used to live on baked potatoes with garlic mayonnaise when camping.

    ^ Noted!

I have this garlic paste stuff from the UK that I often smear on oven chips while they're cooking. I may try some of that on a spud while it's baking.

I often smear it on steaks as well, but have stopped posting pictures of steaks here due to excessive criticism!

Have you seen Chittys? Then you have seen Mendys. They are members of the TD shoe leather club.

    ^ An unfounded myth.

I cooked up a couple of steaks just this last Saturday night and you've now provoked me to show them off.

The cooking started with this... I have absolutely no idea what it was but it tasted awful - the gardener has started adding it to his Ya Dong and he gave me a sample. I did him a big favour a couple of weeks ago and ever since he's been giving me these 'treats'.

    Steaks served up.

    No 'shoe leather' there!

And with 7 dogs... 14 little after-meal, left over treats.

    Myth busted!
