marmite shouldnt go in the fridge. makes it hard and difficult to spread.
My fridge is probably the most important tool in our household.
Most things go in the fridge except for fresh fruits which don't last long with all the kids I have.
Brought a large chest freezer as well which has come in very handy.
Strange to hear Marmite hardens in the fridge as Vegemite stores perfectly when stored there.
I'm with Tex and Scampy the tool on this, almost everything goes in the fridge except bread and thats kept in the Micro wave. Its too hot to store most things outside, it oxidizes quickly, so flour, sugar, pasta, breakfast cereals even jars of Pesto, sundried tomatoes (arn't I the yuppie) all kept in there.
Although my wife, bless her little cotton socks, will sometimes buy some long dead fish and leave that overnight on the bench, no problem with ants as I think it kills them.
If she had her way the fridge would only be used for milk and drinking water, according to her if food cant stand up to a few days left in the atmosphere it has no flavour.
In my fridge is beer, gin, tonic water, ginger ale, limes, ice, vodka, orange juice and tomato juice. And the freezer bit is stuffed full of Magnum bars. That's it.
The one's in the kitchen have probably got food in them though.
I'm with Gerbil on this one. He's got all he needs the fridge!!!
I can't belive no one has mentined potatoes. They start spouting in the fridge and are useless after about half centimeter. A bit like BF'S Knob!
In my fridge is some flood water, marmite, jalepinios, fox's delights, blue cheese, galub jammin and some chilli's. Help yourself's!!!
Coffee loses it's aroma if frozen so fridge.
Makeup is in the fridge.
Angora sweaters in the freezer stops them shedding hair.
I never put bread in the fridge, buy and eat same day.

Not in fridge: onions, spuds, bananas (on counter under those plastic mesh cover thingies), guppies.
Freezer: coffee, beer/wine/other glasses, batteries, camera film if you still use it, wet rolled towlettes, and steaks and shrimp if there's room.
Fridge: the usual plus nail varnish, perfume, ballet slippers, V8 juice, sour cream, condiments, mushrooms in paper bag, bacon drippings in a mug, a gecko, wine, charcoal.

hopefully not the red wine glasses darling....Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon

Potatoes should never go in the fridge, and cornflakes definately no. I only mentioned a few products in the OP which does not mean that I was including or excluding anything else. If you would like my advice on this matter then simply post the product/s and I will reply with 'inside' or 'outside', and having had years of fridge ownership experience I feel more than qualified to take this position.
Most food that I buy I cook and eat the same day, so I am paying 700 baht a month electricity so that when I open my fridge it lights up my face.
"I'm an outsider by choice, but not truly. It's the unpleasantness of the system that keeps me out. I'd rather be in, in a good system. That's where my discontent comes from: being forced to choose to stay outside.
My advice: Just keep movin' straight ahead. Every now and then you find yourself in a different place."

Blood must be fresh from the kill.
I don't like what the fridge does to bread, but I've seen it go moldy overnight on the counter in this tropical climate.
Eggs, I like to keep 'em in there too, cause that's the way it's done back home and it makes me feel comfy. Who cares?
Wine needs to go in there too, IMO, and yes, that means reds. Should be served at euro room temp, not Thai. I think it tastes better that way. 58 farenheit is the optimum temp, or so I've been told.
Scampy should I keep my shaker of Italian seasoning for my spag bol in the fridge or not?
Thanks

Bread does not belong in the fridge, eggs, carrots and ginger do though.Originally Posted by The Gentleman Scamp

Beer glasses & white wine glasses goes in the fridge. Glasses for Vodka goes in the freezer.
I'm looking forward to scampys next thread, which I believe will be titled "today i learned to tie my shoelaces"

Ballet slippers? Nail polish? Perfume? With food? Strong fragrances taint food. Yuk!
Bread? Yep. Most veg (not onions or potatoes) yep. Lipstick? Yep.
I have 2 questions for you, Scampy:
Where do you think your perishables should be stored out here in the tropics?
If putting bread in the fridge is a sacking offence, what do you reserve hanging, drawing & quartering for?![]()
