It is endangered here in East Asia ( Blue and Black Marlin ) but white or striped Marlin from The Caribbean are plentiful and taste the same !!
They are mainly caught by long line and not commercially farmed.
We catch them around Phuket on sport fishing boats but all strictly "catch and release" - having said that though on the rare occasions that one does die on us ( sailfish as well) Ehem ! Yum Yum !!!
