I had a similar inclination with a grapevine in the conservatory of a former property.

I followed a guide written to produce home made wine, and ended up with about 40l of product. The lengthier and complex procedure was a failure, producing a foul tasting wine, better replicated by the local wine shop.

My hypertension precludes any attempt at coffee production, and I find some limited consistency in my instant morning cups. The only one of the day, often produced while still half asleep.

Guests prefer the espresso machine version, so derided by environmentalists.

I accidentally put the basket from my old machine on the new machine...

And lo my new machine was degraded into a slow drip...

I am now doing some defective detective work by soaking various parts of the disassembled old basket in baking soda to see if the fault lies entirely with the basket and the new machine was a over-hasty purchase.

I also found that the new basket cannot be thus disassembled, so if it goes south in the future then there will be no repair option so the old machine might be the better bet long-term.

I don't drink coffee every day anymore as my aging neurons can no longer handle the excessive rattle and hum, but tomorrow is a potential coffee day so I will give it a civet
