    Lantern Chilli's!

Not too much heat to send you into cardiac arrest but enough to add a nice kick.

    Stop the internet.

Leeds for a thali @ this place with one of my pals who lives over there.

Then I was in London last week and I always meet my mate at Tayyabs in Whitechapel. Had a couple more friends from the London area meet me too.

    The Teakdoor Curry Club thread-tayya-jpg

This pal of mine I've known since we lived together in Bangkok. We meet up for a curry whenever I'm in London.

We always get the whole shebang when we are together (even if he doesn't eat much).

I was in the paying seat, but it was ok for all the cracking food we had. Will meet him again in the summer when I'm back in the Big Smoke and it will be his turn then.

It was a good Christmas and I have a lot of mates all over England, so there's always an excuse for a night out.

    That's damn good value.

Last time we were in London, must be 7 years ago, paid 90 quid for a Lebanese, 3 adults and a child, and was probably half that amount grub, and probably not half as tasty.

None of us were boozing, but you can take your own in there too so that keeps the price down should you be so inclined.

I love a good ruby. I've gotta get my arse out more often and have one. We've got more subcontinentals here than the UK. It's not hard to find a good curry. Note to self. Get down the curry pirates ( my local) and get it down me.
Most people are Kunts.dont believe me? Next time you see a group of people. Shout out OI KUNT watch em all turn around.

    I don't know about that.

I was saying to Willy the other day that one of the great things about the UK is quality draught Guinness pretty much everywhere. Another great thing is curries on every corner.

You just have to put up with gale force winds, hailstones in the middle of "summer" and constant fucking drizzle.

To be fair I was always impressed with the places along the Mekong strip in Vientiane. Was quite a pleasant surprise. Drop in yer passy for a visa, get an ol' oil massage, curry along the Mekong with a frosty wobbly-pops, then up to the roof top of.... Bor Pen Yang? Then over to the disco in the basement of that big illegally tall Chinky hotel. Happy days.

Yes it was a lot of fun
The big ole chinky disco thingo is long gone. Bor pen nyang didn't survive covid but Nazims is still running . But I boycott the kunt coz he won't sell beer anymore. A curry needs a beer to go with it. If he's gonna take the moral high ground. Fuck him. The Bangladeshi next door has a fridge full. The best one in town was a Pakistani one a bit hard to find but quality scran in a bumfuck location adding to the ambience. The paki conked out a couple of years ago so it never reopened sadly.

What was the name of the chain?

I had a curry in Vientiane and then saw the same restaurant around town and in other cities in Laos.

The cooking threads are unfortunately the only time I can take you seriously eddo. I have you on ignore but risked taking a peak at your post in the interest of curry and beer banter but back on ignore you go until you can behave yourself. Innit.

Even eating out you still order the same thing as you cook every damn time.

Meat curry, white rice and popadom.

    Production line life.

It may have been tasty, but the table for 2 being the size of a postage stamp would've done me head in. A pet peeve of mine, cramped dining spaces.

I was there in the summer when I was working nearby.

Nammers said on here that it wasn't even curry anymore down there.

He was right. Mostly middle eastern now (as the vid and this pic shows).

There are still a few gaffs though and I did get a banging kebab on naan.

Time to do a curry batch cook.

Didn't have me fave fatty pork collar, so went with a 1/2 kilo tenderloin.

oil and a load of me masala, curry and chili powders into the clay slowcooker for 30 minutes.

    Then diced spuds.

    Then diced pork.

S'pose I should do onion and ginger etc but couldn't be arsed after me morning run.

Mix up then in with half a cup of Ka-norr stock, 4 blitzed tomatoes, spoon of sugar and a few chilis.

Set to high for one hour, then to low with 250ml of coconut milk for a few hours until perfectly cooked.

    easy peasy booby squeezy

Spuds and coconut milk are certainly farang favourites.

    Especially among the more hefty.

Do you grind your own spices mike? Morter and pestle thai style? I imagine it would be therapeutic with a hangover and thinking of the government but surely those wee jars would be quicker? Anyway what the fuck would I know about cooking curries.Crack on Big Respecto
