As I said before toasted in the oven is vastly inferior to a nice grilled cheese. I have had made both many times and grilled always wins.
^^ One things for sure Lom, that first meal was definitely 'drunk food'... no way would I have given my daughter that non appropriate glass if I was sober.
Can't remember that at all.

They call it a grill, I call it a sandwich maker.

Given snubs newfound appreciation of nice, bitey English cheddar plus the general stateside disparagement of good old Heinz beans, here's a drunkfood thought (one I haven't done for years, must admit). CheezyBeanz.
Couldn't be simpler- warm up your beans in a pan or even microwave, than grate in a generous amount of cheddar- or any other sharp cheese, mild cheese won't cut it here. Stir until melted in with the beans, giving the whole thing a gooey consistency. Serve on toast, or any other way you fancy- even as a taco. Yum. If you wanna go drunk gourmet, sploosh in some Tabasco, or chop some cilantro in, or both.
Wouldn't mind some now.
Drunk food to you, school dinner in my youth.
Baked beans on the bottom. The top layered with bacon rashers and sliced onions.
Covered in grated cheese
Kerry came today and I can't remember the last time I was this excited.
Almost the entire household is talking about which sandwich we will Christen it with. I can't wait until Friday night, my 'drunk food' night.
Breville also included a set of recipe cards, each with an individual picture of the toasted sandwich on the back. There were also a few for 'dessert' toasted sandwiches but I'm not sure I fancy those.
One problem which I hadn't considered has immediately become apparent... Farmhouse bread slices aren't big enough and won't get the seal you need around the edges of the bread, thus stopping leakage. Has anyone else in Thailand had this problem?
^ Time to buy a breadmaker Mendip, i'd suggest sardine with garlic mayo but that got some people inordinately upset.
Shame on you Mendip, that's what you get for buying farmhouse bread. Loaded with sugar and so much preservatives it lasts forever in the fridge.
Disclaimer:- This is not a sales pitch, you live to far away
^ well the only solution is to get the rolling pin out and stretch that sucker Mendip
HW, now you tell me!
I was hoping a toastie maker would simplify my life... not make it more complicated. I can't see meself baking bread to make a toastie, and homemade slices may well be too small anyway.
I'll have to go searching for 'Western' size instead of 'Thai' size... not for the first time if you know what I mean.
Either that or the rolling pin will have to come out!

Tops and I think even Makro make an in house sandwich bread which is bigger than Farmhouse. Big C or Lotus as well mate.
You can get larger baked loaves in 7/11. Usually come in half loaf sized bags and thicker cut.
It's a sair fecht for a half a loaf
