Hmmm. The area of the large triangle is 32.5. The areas of the individual colored shapes are 8, 7, 5 and 11.5 which add up to 31.5.
<edit>The line which forms the hypotenuse of the upper triangle is not straight. That's where the additional square unit comes from.</edit>

Well, the solution I posted first was wrong: that the extra square unit was lost in the thickness of the borders between the shapes. But, in looking over the puzzle again I realized that the hypotenuse wasn't straight. Hence the edit.
Well, LH, in layman's terms the blue triangle is smaller than the red triangle so, ... well, ... they're different, ... you know?
