You got it Ms Nat !!
Penghou archipeligo
They are part of Taiwan which is the south China sea OK !
Amazing Basalt formations on the west coast of all the islands .
Portugese found Taiwan ( they were not really lost if you know what I mean !) and called it Formosa - beautiful island
They called the offshore arpigelligo(sp?) Pescadories- fishermans islands
Chinese occupied them for a while and then abandoned them as there was not a lot of profit from taxing fishermen .
Pirates moved in and used them as a base to raid chinese trading vessels.
Chinese sent a force to get rid of the pirates and they built forts etc and were the first customers in the East for Armstrong disappearing guns.
Japan occupied the islands and used them as a forward air base for their attacks on Hong Kong
When I was living in Taiwan it was a regular weekend retreat away from Taipei !!!
Off you go Miss ! All yours
Green on its way to compensate for the headache![]()

What's weird is that I kept checking The Pescadres and I couldn't find your pic. I'm glad I got it after all that!!!
I'll put one up in the morning.

OK, I think this one might be easy. What and where?

Ok, it's in Canada but it's not Algonquin. More English.
