There's a few words in English that mean one thing and the exact opposite too.

Haha yeah those are just strange. In hockey , they say "slow the player up" and "slow the player down" and they both mean the same thing.
But I was thinking of the word sanction. To sanction is to penalize and to authorize. I've used the words with both meanings before but never really realized how strange it is.
