Thai Freshwater Fish
Science Name : Pangasius sutchi
General Characteristics : Striped Catfish is a freshwater fish having no scales. It likes to stay as a group. It is in the same family with Black Ear Catfish. Its physical characteristic and living are similar to Black Ear Catfish. Its body is long. The back arris is rather straight. The front part falls toward mouth position. It has blunt face, wide mouth and 2 pairs of barbels. It has cream body, dark back and light yellow fin in color. Small Striped Catfish has black stripes vertically along the body. Its body length is about 20 – 10 centimeters.
Habitat / Food : It is found in Chao Phraya River, down to Nakhonsawan and Klong River. It eats aquatic plants, baby shell, worm and earthworm.
Behavior / Mating : It is peaceful and easily frightened. It likes to stay as a group in the harbour area close to aquatic plants. It is easy to be raised and fast growing.
Striped Catfish Albino
Science Name : Pangasius larnaudi
General Characteristics : Striped Catfish Albino is a freshwater fish having no scales. Its general characteristics are the same as Striped Catfish. The difference is about the color of its body and fins that are white-pink in color. Its eyes are red.
Habitat / Food : It is found in rivers and canals from Chao Phraya River to Nakhonsawan. It eats rotten dead plants and animals, including weeds and baby shell.
