Good morning from Laytongku village on the Burmese border of Umphang Province, Thailand!

We spent the night in the village clinic, which is undergoing massive expansion-

If you find yourself in Laytongku you must visit the local waterfall of the same name! But watch out, the "trail" to the falls is treacherous!!

But if you survive the trail you will be rewarded!

    The beautiful Laytongku Waterfall!

    Satonic at Laytongku falls-

    Some pics taken by friends:

    Monkeying around

There's a deep hole right in the middle of the pool, suitable for jumping-

Jungle Jack, aka Muddy Rider, striking a pose

    Bank, Kae and Rezabong

The trail back up- don't slip!

The next morning with a bit of a hangover and a coffee inside me it was time to take the short trek down to the water fall. Passing the hydro electric generator

    The water runs

    The beautiful waterfall

The village security came to say good bye to us!

After a spot of breakfast it was time to hit the dirt

The locals checking out Rezza's bike

After about 30 mins of challenging trails we hit the beautiful Suriya river. This time it was too deep to ride across and we had to use bamboo rafts. I'd been looking forward to this part the whole trip!

We couldn't go straight across as the bank on the other side was too steep to ride up so we traveled down stream about 100 meters to an easier landing

    My turn

A view from the other side waiting for Tony to arrive on the raft.

At this point I was actually in Burma (Myanmar)!

Everyone made it across fine, my bike fell through a gap between the bamboo but only the wheels, the gap luckily wasn't big enough for the whole bike to drop through! After another challenging and hot afternoons riding and a few more crashes (notice how steep this part is)

It was time to stop for lunch

    More to come.

After lunch it was time to hit the dirt again

I didn't take any more pics of the trails this day as I was too busy trying to keep up with Bank on the big KTM 450! We would eventually make it back to the shop we stopped at on the first day to buy water, fuel and meat to cook for dinner. We rolled up just as the fuel was being delivered so we gave the guy a hand unloading it

Refueled and stocked up we would ride about another 30 minutes to a shelter that is used by monks walking through. It holds supplies for them like cups, bowls and cutlery etc. We would set up camp here

A cute little dog that was hanging around, I hope someone comes to rescue her before rainy season!

    Making the fire for dinner

A little while later dinner is served!

I noticed about an hour later that Jack had gone missing, he returned carrying a white sack. When he emptied it I was surprised to see a load of fish he said he had caught by hand!

Getting them ready for the fire!

And it was time to sleep!

    More to come.

"LILO" eh? Well, you certainly were "Lyin Lo" after you popped it on day one!

BTW, that was the SURIYA river we crossed. The SALWEEN is much further north and demarcates the border between Thailand and Myanmar in Mae Hong Song province.

Great pics mate- some I hadn't seen yet. Keep 'em coming!!
