Russian tourist attacked and robbed at gunpoint in South Pattaya

    1st November 2011

A Russian Couple were subjected to a horrifying experience in the early hours of Tuesday as they returned to their Hotel after celebrating Halloween.

Mr. and Mrs. Kazachenko were in Soi 6 off the Pratamnuk Road and were only meters away from their Hotel when they were confronted by a Thai Man and woman.

The man, who was described as overweight produced a gun and threatened the pair, demanding they hand over all cash and valuables.

Mrs. Kazanchenko decided to fight back and was punched in the face by the armed man.

She fell to the ground and the man stole her handbag and snatched a gold necklace from around her neck before the two suspects fled the scene.

Inside the bag were 17,000 Baht and personal items.

Pattaya Police soon arrived on-scene and escorted the Russian couple to Banglamung Hospital where Mrs. Kazanchenko was treated for minor facial injuries.

A description of the male attacker and his female accomplice has been circulated amongst Police Officers who have yet to locate and arrest them.

"Slavery is the daughter of darkness; an ignorant people is the blind instrument of its own destruction; ambition and intrigue take advantage of the credulity and inexperience of men who have no political, economic or civil knowledge. They mistake pure illusion for reality, license for freedom, treason for patriotism, vengeance for justice."-Simón Bolívar

^ Am I imagining things or has violent crime against Farang increased remarkably in Thailand?

Several of my family were intimidated and threatened by Koh Samui taxi drivers in March this year, on separate occasions, all returning to hotels after a day out, not on the outward trip.

We're not a rough lot, kids and women all threatened.

    Getting sick of it.

Nope. Only regret investing time online with a bunch of dreary pessimists. Pattaya ain't Thailand.

Not for one moment have I any regrets, pick the area you feel provides best what you need and live life with a smile on your face.
Pattaya as with many tourist destinations attracts parasites who prey on those that appear easy marks.Carrying large amounts of cash with you and displaying jewelery put you in the high risk category.
A former brother in law of mine who likes to flaunt his gold and cash for all to see was recently attacked and robbed in Pattaya. Some people just ask for trouble.
