UPDATE!!!!

Hi all - sorry its been a while! He served 3.5 months in jail, and another 2 weeks in IDC. He landed in Australia Friday 06/01 on a suspended sentance of 2.5 years after originally being sentanced to 5years! They deported him and he is blacklisted from Thailand indefinately after recommendations from the lawyer.

He is very VERY lucky, and only because his mate is a Top barrister here in Melbourne Australia did he not end up in Cambodia or worse.. dead. And he is an ungreatful man.. ugh >
