Chon Buri _ Police yesterday arrested four Sri Lankans for allegedly possessing and using over 200 fake credit cards.

They are suspected of belonging to a transnational gang of credit-card thieves.

Police patrol pulled over after seeing two foreigners making several withdrawals from an ATM machine, using several credit cards from a plastic bag. Police found Thavarahah Thayathi, 30, and Antony Justin Roche de Vaz Johnny, 25, in possession of 211 magnetic-strip cards including 65,000 baht and US$210 in hard currency. A further search at a hotel found two accomplices _ Karuppiah Puvanendiran, 23, and Ratnaraja Vijenthiran, 30.

Police seized 658,000 baht in cash, a computer notebook, three thumb drives storing credit card numbers and passwords, and six cell phones from them.

They admitted buying the cards and information from a card-forgery gang in England and travelling throughout this tourist town to withdraw money at night.
