A Swedish mother has appealed for help in finding her adult son, who has not been in contact since arriving in Thailand two months ago.

Writing from Sweden, LiseLott Carlberg informed the Phuket Gazette that she had not heard from Michael, 24, since he landed in Bangkok on May 5.

"We know that he has been located in Bangkok, so I pray to you that you will help me to find my son. We have been in contact with the police, who advised us to get in contact with the media in Bangkok," she said.

Carlberg described her son as 183 centimetres tall, with blue eyes and of average weight.

"He has a scar right under his chin from a fall when his was a little boy," she added.

"All I can do is hope and pray that you will take this most seriously," the mother said.

Par Kageby, senior consular officer at the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok, on Monday confirmed with police that Michael Carlberg completed two visa runs last month.

"He is still in the country. He most recently completed a visa run to Cambodia on June 18. He did a similar visa run to Cambodia on June 4," Kageby told the Gazette. "However, he has not made contact with anyone since arriving."

Anyone who believes he or she has seen Carlberg recently is urged to call Kageby at the embassy at (02) 263 7299 or email at par.kageby[at]foreignministry.se.
