    reward for a 'good citizen'

An electrician was rewarded with Bt20,000 and is to receive a plaque for his honesty in returning a bag containing Bt500,000 to a Swiss tourist yesterday.

Thongbai Tardyoo, who works at the Metropolitan Electricity Authority in Watliab District, found the bag in a taxi on Monday night.

The bag's owner, Ramseyor Ronnial, said he arrived in Bangkok on Monday and took a taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya. He left his handbag, containing the cash, his passport, air ticket and credit cards, in the taxi. Thongbai said he found the bag in the taxi he took from Suvarnabhumi Airport to his house in Bangyai on Monday night.

He said he took the bag with him because he mistakenly thought it was his raincoat.

On learning that it was Ronnial's handbag, Thongbai attempted to trace him to tell him to collect it from the Phra Rachawang Police Station in Bangkok.

Ronnial collected the bag yesterday and gave Thongbai Bt20,000 as a reward.
Thongbai will also be awarded a plaque for "good citizen", said Pol-Colonel Wicharn Borirakkul of Phra Rachawang Police Station.

Only 20,000 baht for a reward? I would have given him half.

i dunno about half, but yeah 20K is a bit tight.... he is swiss after all.

I would have had an absolute heart attack forgetting that bag of stuff.

The cynics could argue that the police coulda tracked him down anyway....

actually a few years ago a mate of mine left $5000 plus passports in a taxi and got it returned to him via a radio station, he was well relieved and thankful.

Honest Taxi Driver returns bag containing over 200,000 Baht to Norwegian Tourist with the help of the Tourist Police.

A nice story now from the Tourist Police Station located half-way up the Pratamnuk Mountain. Police Captain Wattana oversaw this case which begun with a visit to the station by Khun Soopat, a taxi driver who had picked up a Foreign man from the Suvanabumi Airport in Bangkok and brought him down to a Hotel on Walking Street, South Pattaya. Mr. Per Kristian Rustan aged 52 from Norway left the Taxi and all appeared normal as Khun Soopat returned to Bangkok. He soon realized that a small bag had been left behind by the Norwegian and inside was 900 US Dollars, 70 Euro’s, 100 Pounds Sterling and 200 Norwegian Krona. Khun Soopat made his way back to the Hotel but could not locate Mr. Rustan so he made his way to the Tourist Police Station where Police assisted him in locating Mr. Rustan who was reunited with his bag and its contents at the Tourist Police Station. As a token of his appreciation, Mr. Rustan offered Khun Sopat 200 US Dollars which was gratefully received.

So, now it appears to be a norvegian. 200K bahts ? I'm not a mathematician but reading the report of the different currencies it's worst 44K bahts.

I would be very pleased to have such a nice change rate. Where is the bank ?
