Seems a Samui bar owner and president of a local biker group (and prospect of the Bandidos) was found dead in Chaweng Lake- what was initially ruled a suicide now looks like a homocide (Drummond has it on his site as well-

Murder investigation after British biker is 'beaten and dumped in 12 inches of water'

Thai police have launched a murder inquiry into the death of a Briton on the island of Koh Samui after a post-mortem examination ruled that he had drowned.
Police on the holiday island had previously ruled that video producer Kevin Attew, 57, from Aldershot, Hampshire, committed suicide by drowning himself in a lake near the resort area of Chawaeng after his Thai girlfriend told them that he intended to do just that.

Mr Attew's body was found last Tuesday.

But after pictures taken by his best friend appeared to show that he had been beaten to death before being put in the water, the murder inquiry was launched.
Further doubt was cast on the suicide verdict when it emerged that the man-made lake in which his body was found was fewer than 30 centimetres deep - and that the lake was only yards from the Gulf of Thailand, which would have been a more effective suicide spot.
Londoner Crispin Paton-Smith, who publishes of the island's real estate magazine and was Mr Attew's best friend, said: 'I was appalled to hear the verdict of drowning.
'It was a no-brainer. Kevin was beaten to death and his body was left on dry land for quite a while before being put in the lake.'
Paton-Smith, a former gunner in the Royal Artillery, said: 'I have spoken to his girlfriend and she continues to insist he committed suicide.
'He did not - unless he beat himself to death. He would have had to dig a hole to drown himself.
'Kevin ran a very successful bar and was the sweetest man in the world. He had no enemies.'

Koh Samui's police have been known to play down crimes committed on the island because they do not want to damage its tourism industry

A police spokesman in Surat Thani on the mainland in southern Thailand said: 'We are treating this as murder and have asked for the body to be sent here for a full autopsy.'
Mr Attew, who produced rock and advertising videos in Britain, owned the Honey Barb in Chawaeng, a meeting place for bikers.
He was founder of the Koh Samui Pirates motorcycle club, which consisted mainly of middle-aged male bikers who enjoy touring on their machines.
Thai police have at least once mistaken such motorcyclists for members of Scandinavian and American motorcycle gangs with a reputation for crime.
They arrested and jailed several law-abiding bikers four years ago, including Mr Paton-Smith, a member of the Koh Samui Bandidos motorcycle club, who was eventually released without charge.
A British Embassy spokesman said relatives of Mr Attew had been informed of his death.

RIP. Maybe this was X-Samui's (Koh Samui's 'most wanted' arrested) doing, I'm sure they'll just chalk it up to him in the media anyways, based off of this lovely tidbit:

Most Thais know the reputation of Koh Samui and despite this so many farangs see the Island through rose tinted glasses, it's just another Phuket.

Simple, and common business transaction in Thailand.

We had a friend back in the day who beat himself to death late one night on the way home from his bar in similar fashion. Funnily enough that was Samui as well.

A few years back a bunch of Bandidos were found bound and shot through the head in a farming area SW of Toronto. The Ontario Provincial Police did not suspect suicide...their investigative techniques must be a bit more detailed that the BIB..

Seems there was some settlement of accounts between them and the Hells Angels. Dead bikers seem to have show up on quite a regular basis here and there and they are nearly always described as "sweet guys". Obviously biking is a dangerous hobby..I'm seriously thinking of selling my Suzuki 125.... before it's too late..

Does his best friend realise that blood goes to the lowest part of the body and would look like severe bruising? ie if he was on his back it would look like he was severely beaten on his back.

That's true, but it wouldn't explain multiple gashes on his head.

Chaweng Lake is basically a shallow swamp- no one is going to kill themselves in it- there has to be something more to it.

No- it's just a stagnant reservoir that isn't connected to any other bodies of water- calling it a 'lake' is charitable.

Heard of a thai girl knocking off the thai wife on request from the husband.
Could be any number of senarios.
Maybe came from the family cause he wasn't sending cash home , maybe she had a thai boyfriend and his job was well to do ? Maybe he made an enemy with someone and he got his dues . Only people who knew this man know the truth . i don't so I can't speculate . Could be anything . Either way . You surround yourself in that environment maybe your card will be called .
Who knows . Throw another one out . The landlady got a better offer on the bar and done him and some new falang none the wiser will be drinking chang with his new girl taking care of things in a month. He's then bled of cash and then he's bleeding to death.

Vicious circle. Sorry if anyone is offended by my bluntness but I know not all are in the same boat . It's just the minority.
