Agents get chance to win 'dream trip' to Thailand

Agents get chance to win 'dream trip' to Thailand
    Jan 16, 2011

Agents could win their dream Thailand trip

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a special competition for travel agents, giving them the chance to live out their 'dream itinerary' in Thailand.

The “Best Itinerary Contest” launched in January runs until August 2011 and has been devised as a way to encourage continuous education and research of Thailand as a holiday destination by the region’s travel trade.

Travel agents are invited to submit their “perfect” Thailand itinerary based on a given theme.

The competition will be held four times throughout 2011 based on four distinct themes which will be announced at the launch of each competition round. Itineraries will be judged on their ability to incorporate criteria such as, the inclusion of new attractions, authenticity, travelling time and efficiency, relaxation, budget and the so-called “7 Wonders of Thailand” (Thainess, Treasures, Beaches, Nature, Trends, Wellness and Festivities).

The winning travel agents will get the opportunity to live out their dream itinerary with a complementary holiday package for two adults to Thailand. The winner’s name, picture, agency logo and itinerary will also be posted on the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s dedicated Middle East website.

All travel agents from the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Iran will be eligible to enter the competition.
Despite the challenges impacting Thailand’s tourism sector last year, including violent political demonstrations in Bangkok - the destination saw a 20% increase in visitor numbers from the Middle East.

Pramoth Supyen, Tourism Authority of Thailand Director for Middle East said: “2010 proved to be a challenging year for all destinations due to various global and international events and Thailand was no exception. However, I am pleased to announce that due to the combined efforts of our travel trade partners and the continuing popularity of Thailand among residents of this region who appreciate the value and quality of experiences Thailand has to offer; Thailand continues to grow strongly as a favoured destination of choice, and this is something that we are very pleased about. Given the circumstances a projected increase of 20% in 2010 is an outstanding result.”

Full details on the Best Itinerary Contest” can be found at: Thailand Satisfaction Survey or travel agents should contact the Tourism Authority of Thailand Middle East office directly.

Travel agents are invited to submit their “perfect” Thailand itinerary based on a given theme.

    suggested itinerary.

    1. arrive tired and sweaty at suwannaphum airport, stand in line for 50minutes until grumpy jobsworth immigration officer stamps your passport.

    2. get hassled by illegal taxi tout and pay 700baht for 10 minute ride to hotel.

    3. get conned by tuk tuk driver for free tour of bangkok, spend morning fighting off indian tailors and jewellery salesmen.

    4. pay 3x thai price for boat trip and seafood lunch on river.

    5. get fined 2000 baht for accidentally dropping microscopic piece of paper on sukhumvit road.

    6. get pulled out of a taxi by 2 cops and are searched and then fined for not having passport on your person.

    7. get attacked by phuket jetski operator over accident damage dispute, then whilst reporting this at the police station have an altercation with taxi mafia thug because you parked your rental car in one of their spots outside the police station. costs an arm and a leg to sort out.

    8. go for an oil massage in an attempt to relax, massage parlour hasnt paid its tea money and is raided by police, your photo is all over the papers as a filthy sex tourist. story picked up by international press, lose your job and your dignity back home.

    9. take a flying leap from the 16th floor of apartment block.

    10. free flight home in a box.

You got No. 6 wrong. It doesn't mention them nicking money out of your wallet while "searching for drugs". Perhaps that could be 6(a).

Amended to: Bankrupt your family back home as your "holiday" insurance didn't cover you once you are deceased.

Sure there is some truth to the above, but you still do not see very many expats eager to be heading home, and the faces on the bus going from Pattaya to Swampy look about as grim as a group of strangers can look.

mostly whoremongers having exhausted their funds paying for pussy and sitting on the bus realising that they are lacking in the social skills needed to form the more traditional kind of relationships that are the norm back in the real world and are doomed to a year of masturbatory release until they can afford to return.

Limited funds at that, if they're having to resort to the bus.
