    Seh Daeng's aide arrested, detained

The Criminal Court on Friday approved the Department of Special Investigation's request to detain a close aide of the late Maj-Gen Khattiya Sawasdipol (Seh Daeng) for 12 days for interrogation.

Aram Saeng-aroon, a former para-military ranger, was apprehended in Ubon Ratchathani province on Thursday and moved to Bangkok last night. He is wanted on terrorism charges.

The detention request was filed with the Criminal Court by Pol Lt-Col Somchai Choeylomkham, a DSI investigator.

The application stated that from November 2009 to May 2010 Mr Aram was a member of an armed unit of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship whose activities were intended to force the government to dissolve the House of Representatives.

Mr Aram was also a bodyguard for Maj-Gen Khattiya and leader of armed men equipped with M79 grenade launchers.

The armed unit under him had acted on Maj-Gen Khattiya's orders to conduct sabotage activities and other illegal offences, including the raids into parliament and Thaicom satellite station, the clash with government autorities at Khok Wua intersection, and the torching of government and private property on many occasions, causing a large number of casualties.

The court approved the DSI request, allowing for the detention of Mr Aram for interrogation for 12 days from Oct 8-19.

The DSI opposed bail for Mr Aram, saying that it had yet to question 30 other people who were also involved in the violence he led.

so, the PAD lot, and their defendants haven't been question and this means that they don't need to report to the police station, and can generally carry on as normal.

In this case, the DSI use the same type of excuse to oppose bail.

Whilst I'm not supporting the defendant in any way (I have no knowledge of the case, no details have been put out, only the standard speculation by govt press), it's non-stop double standards which the courts and DSI deal in that make a mockery of the legal process, justice, government, etc...
