Not unusual at all. And often for far larger amounts, in the range of 1/2 million baht.

They truly are such honest, beautiful people.

Preeda Yunbuaban, 48, picked up Ahmed Abdulmalek, a Bahraini businessman, his wife and one-year-old daughter from Soi Sukhumvit 11 at about 11pm on Sunday to take them to the Patpong area.
A Bangkok taxi driver has returned cash and valuables worth about 200,000 baht left in his cab by three foreign passengers.

Mr Preeda then took another passenger to Suvarnabhumi airport.

As he was about to leave the airport, he spotted a sports bag on the back seat. He thought it belonged to the airport passenger and ran after her, but she said it did not belong to her.

The Chaiyaphum native then searched for clues to the owner. Inside the bag, he found 25,320 baht, US$2,000 and 110 Bahrain dinars in notes, seven credit cards, three passports, a video camera and a digital camera.

"I also found an All Seasons Hotel keycard, so I telephoned the hotel and the staff confirmed that the three were guests," Mr Preeda said.

"I left a message for them and called Sor Wor Por 91 traffic radio to help coordinate the return of their belongings."

A taxi driver Friday returned Bt500,000 to a Japanese businessman who had left it in the back of his cab.

The passenger forgot his bag containing US dollars, Japanese yen and Vietnamese dong, a mobile phone and passport.

Driver Rung Wantumma, 34, had FM 91 Traffic Radio announce the discovery.

Let's face it, honesty is everywhere. There may be less of it in some locations than others, but it is always in plentiful supply. I once left a debit card in an ATM at Nana Plaza and walked to the end of the block. I was about to cross the street when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and it was a young "demi-mondaine" (to use Trink's term) she smiled and handed me my card. "The girl LEAST likely". Naturally, I felt it was proper to reward her with 100 baht. Losing that card would have meant big trouble for this dumb farang.

Who leaves that sort of money in a taxi anyway? If so they deserve to lose it.

The driver should keep it, call it a stupidity tax.

My missus had her credit card stolen, but I never reported it to the police because whoever stole it was spending less than her.
