Illegal Chinese Credit Card Call Center shut down by Police in East Pattaya
Police Major General Niwat, Deputy Commissioner of Region 2 Police, oversaw a raid of a house at the TW City Home Village 1 in Soi Kow Noi, East of Pattaya, on Friday Morning, following information that an illegal foreign call center was being run from the location.
Inside the house 13 Chinese and Taiwanese nationals were detained and equipment including 20 telephones, 8 computer notebooks and 30 bank books were seized as evidence.
According to information from the Police team who conducted the raid, the organizers had obtained confidential information on credit card holders in China and the operators would call them and inform them that their credit card payments were due and an immediate bank transfer would need to be made to ensure the card was not cancelled.
They would instruct the credit card holders to forward the money to a bank account in china which was in fact an account held by the organizers of the call center.
This money would then be transferred out to various accounts in China and in Thailand.
All the foreign nationals were arrested and taken to Banglamung Police Station and will face various charges of credit card fraud and working in the Kingdom of Thailand without a valid work permit.
