Bangkok Post : Panlop denied involvement
Panlop denied involvement

Former deputy director of the Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc) Gen Panlop Pinmanee on Monday denied he was the man behind the recent blasts in front of the Big C department store on Ratchadamri road and in front of King Power duty-free complex on Rang Nam road.
He was referring to a remark made by metropolitan police chief Santhan Chayanont said the blasts were the work of "a mentally ill old man."
Gen Panlop said after he declared not to get involved in any activities of the red shirts before they started the anti-government rally in April he had really distanced himself from them.
He said he even told the late Maj-Gen Khattiya Sawasdipol or Seh Daeng to do the same. Seh Daeng was shot near the Sala Daeng intersection on May 15 at the peak of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship protest and died a few days later.
"I really had nothing to do with them. I usually either stay home or go out to play golf," he said.
The 75-year-old retired general said he had not talked to former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra on the telephone.
"Slavery is the daughter of darkness; an ignorant people is the blind instrument of its own destruction; ambition and intrigue take advantage of the credulity and inexperience of men who have no political, economic or civil knowledge. They mistake pure illusion for reality, license for freedom, treason for patriotism, vengeance for justice."-Simón Bolívar
Lots of "mentally ill old men" (sic) coming forward to deny their involvement. Apparently the description fit in a few cases...

DSI to seek warrants for 3 suspects

Warrants will be sought for the arrest of another three suspects in the grenade explosion in front of the Big C department store on Ratchadamri road on July 25, Department of Special Investigation (DSI) chief Tharit Pengdit said on Monday.
He said that after receiving the case from the metropolitan police on Monday afternoon, the DSI would start to question key witnesses right away.
There were initially four suspects in the case. Since the Criminal Court had already approved a warrant for Thanadet Ek-apiwat, alias Kai, one of the suspects, on April 24 on another case, the DSI planned to seek court approval for the arrest of three other suspects. They are Kiat Sumsri, Sek and Phan (last names not known), Mr Tharit said.
Mr Tharit said the DSI would seek warrants for the three after the questioning of witnesses was completed.
The problem now (one of many) is that the DSI under Tharit has become so politically motivated that anything they do/say is taken, at best with a pinch of salt, at worst as blatant political propagandering on behalf of the Dems/army.
The DSI/CRES/PAD/Dems/army/ISOC partnership has become so anti-blind justice that none of them have any credibility at all. What they do have is power; based on army rule/violence, self-granted 'emergency' powers, intimidation, censorship and extreme patronage clan politics.
Things go from worse to worse, day by day...
Cheer up, Thaksin has said he'll be back soon![]()

In a country where the two politicians who looked like they might break the mold and be good (first MrT, then MrA) turned out as they have done, what's to be cheery about?

'Red Shirt' arrested over blast
Aug 4, 2010
BANGKOK - THAI police said on Wednesday they had arrested a man linked to the 'Red Shirt' opposition movement in connection with a grenade blast in Bangkok last week.
Sorathien Singkanya, 23, had confessed that the grenade belonged to him but denied planting it himself, Police Major General Wichai Sangprapai said.
The blast on a road in Bangkok on July 30 seriously wounded a scrap scavenger.
Police said Sorathien was in possession of two grenades and five firecrackers when he was detained in the capital. He is also accused of being involved in more than a dozen other violent incidents.
Two months of mass protests by the Red Shirts in the capital from mid-March triggered clashes between demonstrators and troops that left about 90 people dead - mostly civilians - and nearly 1,900 injured.

Bangkok Post : Red guard chief offers to surrender
Red guard chief offers to surrender

The head of the guard of the United Front for the Democracy against Dictatorship, known as Bang Wai, has contacted police offering to give himself because he is worried about his safety, Wichai Sangprapai, chief of the Metropolitan Police Division 1, said on Thursday.
Bang Wai, who is also known by the name Suwit, has been accused by Sorapian "Ko" Singkanya of providing him with explosives. Mr Sorapian was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of being involved in the explosion near King Power on Rang Nam Road last Friday.
Pol Maj Gen Wichai said the surrender time and date for Bang Wai has not been set.
He also said that police investigators will seek the Criminal Court's approval to further detain Mr Sorapian.
Because cases related to the red-shirt protests are treated as special cases, Mr Sorapian will be handed to the Department of Special Investigation, he said.
So, it is looking as though yet again the UDD/red shirts were the ones involved in the bombings.
It is also appearing they have committed acts of terrorism.
I bet TS feels really stupid right now.
This may sound cheesy but I don't think it is red shirt policy per se, but there
are some certainly very extreme people with very violent agendas that happens
to be in line with the red shirts at the moment. I have seen them circulating
guerrilla warfare manuals, how to blow up tanks, ambush soldiers etc. Its like
those guys that got caught trying to assassinate Obama, they probably voted
Republican.
The Criminal Court Friday freed a bomb suspect on bail.
The Criminal Court let Seksan Worapiticharoenkul to be freed after he posted Bt1 million worth of assets as guarantee.
Seksan has been arrested for allegedly having bombs in possession.
