A 93-year-old Australian charged with raping four young Thai sisters may never face justice because he has terminal cancer and claims he is too sick to stand trial.

Former Sydney railway worker Karl Joseph Kraus could face up to 20 years' jail if convicted.

But he hopes to be freed by March 18 if a Thai court drops charges against him because of his terminal prostate cancer.

"I'll be dead," he told Fairfax Media from a court cell in Chiang Mai.

"I can't walk but they still put me in prison."

Kraus' lawyer is gathering medical evidence and believes the court will dismiss the charges because Kraus is unfit to stand trial, Fairfax reports.

The court has agreed to examine Kraus' medical records by March 18.

In July last year, Kraus skipped bail and fled Thailand to Burma for about a month before police and officials escorted him back across the border.

A Burmese official told the Chiangrai Times Kraus had entered the country by illegally crossing a river before renting a room in Pa-an.

The charges against Kraus are one of the worst child sex abuse cases investigated in Thailand in recent years, with all of the victims aged under 15.

One of the girls that police said Kraus lured to his house with promises of chocolates and English lessons was only five when she was allegedly abused for the first time.

Police also allegedly seized more than 100 photographs of naked children, some of which included Kraus in the frame.

The girls' parents said they discovered the alleged abuse after asking the girls why they didn't want to play outside anymore.

Kraus has been charged with raping the four girls, but maintains his innocence.

THAILAND: A 93-year-old Australian man accused of raping four young Thai sisters in one of the worst child sex abuse cases investigated in Thailand is likely never to face justice.
Karl Joseph Kraus, a former railway worker from Sydney, wants a court to drop the charges because he says he is suffering from terminal prostate cancer.
“I’ll be dead,” Mr Kraus told Fairfax Media from a court cell in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai.
“Nobody helps me. This is terrible … they put me in jail when I was sick,” he said.

A lawyer acting for Mr Kraus is gathering evidence from doctors, which he says will lead to Chiang Mai court dismissing the charges on the basis his client is unfit to stand trial.
Mr Kraus, who attempted to flee to Burma last year, could be free by March 18, by when the court has agreed to examine his medical records. If convicted of the offences, Mr Kraus would face up to 20 years' jail.
Brought from jail to the court on Monday, Mr Kraus complained that “nobody helps me” and “I done nothing wrong.”
“I don’t know what to do,” he said.
But during his time at the court several people helped him, including two officials from the Australian embassy who brought him fresh muffins and juice.

The Chiangmai paedophile network is monstrous.

Kraus lived in a safe house for years protected by a small clutch of Thai women who procured his victims for him, as is so often the case.

The Chiangmai paedophile network supports visiting foreign paedophiles who get to "volunteer" at orphanages and refugee camps around the north.

Most of the resident farang paedophiles of Chiangmai have jobs or pensions, and are able to network with locals for procuring victims.

I first saw this chap being helped out of a car at John's Bar/restaurant on Moon Maung back in 2007, along with three Thai female companions, zimmerframe and another old wierdo, out for a meal one night.

Evidence found on his computer alone is enough for me to want the scumbag lead a very long life getting hurt every day in Prison ...
He forgoes any Human rights , as he certainly denied those little girls the human right to grow up and have a happy childhood , any chance of that right for those Girls went forever when the filthy scum bag got his disgusting mits on the poor girls..
