CJCSC offers training to Thai soldiers in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majid on Friday offered training facility to Thai soldiers in Pakistan.
He made this offer while talking to Thailand’s National Defence Studies Institute (NDSI) Deputy Commanding General Lieutenant General Taraton Sriyabhanda, who called on him at the Joint Headquarters.
Matters relating to defence cooperation were discussed in the meeting. Sriyabhanda is visiting Pakistan to formulate a framework for the affiliation of Pakistan’s National Defence University with Thailand’s NDSI. Majid said Pakistan considers Thailand an important country of South East Asia and cordial bilateral relations form an important part of Pakistan’s “Vision East Asia Policy”, which calls for enhancing ties with all nations of that region.
He appreciated Thailand’s support for Pakistan’s entry into the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ (ASEAN) Regional Forum (ARF) as well as Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) and expressed hope that Thailand would also support Pakistan’s entry into ASEAN’s Full Dialogue Partnership (FDP) forum. Earlier, Sriyabhanda also visited Heavy Industries Taxila and appreciated the defence industrial infrastructure being produced by Pakistan especially the al Khalid Tank.
