I live in Thong Lor, It usually is less than 170 Baht and is about 30 minutes. The airport Link means coming back from there by taxi on top of the 150 Baht so it's back up Petchburi with no right turn into Thong Lor (unless it's that small window each day). So it'll be more expensive and will take longer.

I live in Thonglor too, and the average is about 30 minutes, although I have made it to/from in considerably less time. No way would using the new train make sense for people at our end of Sukh. As for tourists, unless they are going to drag their suitcases onto the BTS they are still going to wind up in a taxi, so other than at peak traffic times the hassle compared to just grabbing a taxi at the airport doesn't sound worth it.
