Finnish man harms himself in his South Pattaya condo after running out of money.
A disturbing case now from Center Condo on the South Pattaya Road involving a Finnish National. Police and medical workers were called to the 8th floor of the condo to investigate a disturbance from a room occupied by Mr. Esko Johan Muhli aged 65 from Finland.
Police noticed a pool of blood near the front door and decided to force entry where they found the man covered in blood by the door. A glass table had been smashed which apparently caused the abrasions sustained by Mr. Muhli.
Khun Sowanok aged 24 explained to Polcie that she had met the man earlier that night on Pattaya Beach and she accompanied him back to his condo. On the way back he went to four different ATM machines but to his surprise his account was empty. He then stopped off at a convenience store and purchased some Thai Whisky which he began to drink at the condo. Khun Sowanok decided to leave because Mr. Muhli was becoming drunk and verbally abusive but returned at 3am to find that Mr. Muhli had apparently gone out as he was not answering his door.
Khun Sowanok waited in the lobby of the condo and decided three hours later to summon the assistance of security guards who in turn decided to call the Police. Mr. Muhli sustained severe cuts to his arms and hands which appear to be self-inflicted. He was taken to the Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital for treatment.
The Finnish Embassy has been informed of this case and will speak with Mr. Muhli when he recovers in an attempt to rectify his apparent financial hardship.4
