Swiss man found dead in Chon Buri

Chon Buri - A 65-year-old Swiss man was found dead inside his condominium room Tuesday morning.

Police said a suicide note was found near the body of Enri Isdorwater inside his room on the 14th floor of Sriracha Place Condominium in Sri Rachad district.

His head was covered with a plastic bag tired with an elastic.

Police said the body was found by the Swiss man's stepson, Niwet Banklang, 36.

Niwet told police that he rushed to the room after his phone call was not answered.

Niwet said the Swiss man was suffering from some chronic diseases, including diabetes.

Pathologist at the Ao Udom Hospital said the man died of suffocation about 8 hours before the autopsy at 9 am.

Very effective, dignified and painless way to go - and no mess to cleanup. Obviously a considerate fellow - RIP.

He must've been very exact with the lacky band..the subsequent hyperventilation you would've thought be enough to displace it...not convinced by this..

    RIP

    RIP.

With chronic disease and pain, some choose to leave on their own terms.

    Nothing wrong with this.

Suicide by suffocation with a bag over your head is near impossible, unless one first takes steps to restrict the natural reaction of ripping the bag off once the panic sets in. Unless you have first used an agent to put you out, tie your hands behind your back immediately after putting the bag on, or fill the bag with some gas or something.

There is a common 'joke' around these forums about finding that someone committed suicide with a bag over his head and his hands tied behind his back, intimating that he was murdered. Depends on the tie used, I suppose. It's not really possible to just stick a bag on your head, lie down and die. You have to restrain yourself in some way.

^ Not so. Hypoxia (low oxygen) causes the person to become disorientated and confused, which can be followed by coma and death. There have been many cases of pilots passing out at altitude without pressurization or supplementary oxygen.

The person will feel not only disorientated and confused, but also dizziness and fatigue. Next he loses consciousness.....

Since carbon dioxide may cause discomfort, sedatives are often used in combination with the plastic bag. A more effective way is to fill the bag with an inert gas, to which the body will not react (e.g. Nitrogen or helium).

    Sorry to be nit-picky, but:
" His head was covered with a plastic bag tired with an elastic."

I believe they mean tied, not tired ... and what's "an elastic?" An elastic band? Sorry, but I am tired of the Nation's shoddy excuse for "journalism".

It is quite possible for someone to kill themselves this way. My old mum checked out with this method..... just used a loose cord to partially seal the bag around her neck.

Nothing else needed, I know, I found her.

Apparently it is actually impossible for anyone to genuinely commit suicide in Thailand
