PATTAYA TEEN GANG BLUDGEON AND ROB DANISH BAR OWNER
A Danish bar owner returning to his home, in the early morning of 19 June, 2009, found it being plundered by a teenage gang. As he walked in, he was set upon and severely beaten up. The thieves escaped with a vast amount of spoils and cash.
At 03.30 am, on 19 June, Pol. Lt. Col. Jiwattanapong, Banglamung Police Investigator, was notified of a robbery and attack in a house off Sukhumvit Road. A police and paramedic team was duly dispatched to investigate.
At the crime scene, a single house, the police found Mr. Bent Freddy Starbeck, [49], Danish national, who had been severely beaten, with head wounds and an extremely bruised face. The rescue team gave him first aid. The house appeared as if it had been totally ransacked, with considerable evidence of fighting.
Questioning the victim, police discovered Mr. Bent had a beer bar in Walking Street. He had apparently travelled back to his house, only to find two motorbikes parked in front, with the light on in the house. He said he had rushed into the house and found three teenage boys and a girl searching it.

As soon as they saw him walking in, the males set upon him and started to beat him up. As he began to retaliate, shouting for help from his neighbours, one of them picked up a pipe and hit him about the head until he fell down. The gang then rushed back to their bikes and sped away. The robbers had managed to steal Bt135,000, a computer, a 42” LCD TV, a DVD player and other items totalling over Bt100,000 in value.
Police duly filed a report, detailing the information, before sending the victim to the Banglamung Hospital. The police presumed that the robbers must have been in the house before. The suspects must also have known Mr. Starbeck’s time schedule and there could well have been over 5 robbers involved in the crime because several large items had been taken out of the house before Mr. Starbeck had returned home and surprised the rest of the gang.

Police, questioning the neighbours, were told that Mr. Starbeck was in the habit of taking different women home on a regular basis, one or more of whom may have been involved in some way with the crime. The police will do their best to bring the robbers to justice as soon as possible.
