Police probe missing Briton case in Malaysia

The disappearance of a British man last week in Malaysia's capital is being investigated from "all angles", police said Tuesday (Jun 3).

A missing person's report was filed, identifying the man as 25-year-old Jordan Johnson-Doyle, Kuala Lumpur police said.

Johnson-Doyle was last seen on May 27 in the bustling Bangsar district, known for its nightlife, trendy bars and cafes, according to local media reports.

"A detailed investigation, from all angles, is underway," Brickfields district police chief Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood told AFP.

"Those with any information are urged to contact their nearest police station," Ku Mashariman added in a statement.

Johnson-Doyle's mother, Leanne Burnett, 44, told the Free Malaysia Today news website that her husband had travelled to Kuala Lumpur, adding "we are distraught and pray that he's well somewhere".

She said his family was "seeking the help of anyone who saw him at his last-known location to come forward and inform the police".

Burnett said she was travelling to Malaysia with another son to help with the search.

Police have asked for the public "not to speculate" about Johnson-Doyle's disappearance.

The British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur confirmed Tuesday that it would assist Johnson-Doyle's family.

"We are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Malaysia," it said in a statement.

Local reports said Johnson-Doyle, a software engineer, was on a solo backpacking tour around Southeast Asia when he disappeared.

I hope that he has just decided to go on an epic bender, to blow off a bit of pent up frustration from living in pommie land, being cold n miserable all the time, probably found a nice bint that could suck start a Harley. No need for td investigation team this time I would say.

Last seen May 27. It isn't looking good. Even if he came across a Malaysian champion in the bedroom, he should have resurfaced by now.

Jeez, it's only a week. I was out of circulation for over a month, in Penang, shacked up with a Chinese girl, in the past.

The way his family has responded suggests they are really worried. They are acting as if he's ordinarily very responsible and his absence is way out of character.

Body found in Bangsar construction site is that of missing British man, say cops

Police have confirmed that the body found at a construction site here was of missing United Kingdom national Joardan Michael John Johnson-Doyle

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed this in a statement Thursday (June 5).

"The body was visually identified by an uncle of the deceased who had confirmed the identity via tattoos on his body. This confirms the body of the man who was reported missing on June 2," he said.

He added that the cause of death was identified as "chest injury due to fall from height".

"No elements of foul play were found at the scene of the incident. The case has been classified as a Sudden Death Report," he said.

Comm Rusdi also urged the public not to speculate on the matter.

UK-based Daily Mail reported that the 25-year-old was last seen in Healy Mac's Irish Bar in Bangsar at 8pm on May 27 when he sent his best friend Owen a photograph of the pub's quiz night poster.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood previously said that the police had received a report on his disappearance on June 2.
