It isn't too hard to join those dots. If you look at China Customs data their exports to the US plummeted and exports especially to SE Asia ballooned, but the SE Asia markets don't have the domestic capacity to absorb those imports. There are people in warehouses busily stamping "Made in Thailand" on boxes before reshipping them to the US.
The US has severe penalties on falsifying the country of origin and maybe some of these shipments will get caught. Or maybe not.
