Police arrested a suspect responsible for a string of thefts across multiple stores in the Kata-Karon area.
The Karon Police told the Phuket Express that the arrest was carried out on Tuesday (May 20th). The suspect, identified only as Mr. J, was taken into custody at his residence in Chalong. Officials also seized several stolen items as evidence. He faces charges of “theft using a vehicle to facilitate the crime or evade capture” under Thai criminal law.
Investigators discovered that Mr. J had been targeting shops with weak security measures, such as unlocked or poorly secured doors, making it easier to access valuable goods. His activities spanned four to five different stores, with multiple victims filing official complaints with police.
