Yet more immigration fun and games

So, Thailand is introducing a new system of Thailand Digital Arrival Cards. It is an online system that you should complete three days before your arrival in Thailand.

Unluckily for me, it will be introduced on 1st May- and I get back on the 2nd May

One of the first page questions is "Country/Territory of residence". The only problem is that you cannot select "Thailand" Type it in and it gets deleted.

I spent half an hour trying to get through to the contact number (a TAT number), and was finally informed that it was "not their problem" and to go to immigration for answers.

As aways, they have completely forgotten resident expats and retirees.

So, I am going to go with "fuck it", not fill the form (which I cannot) and just take my passport and work permit and argue the toss with immigration at the airport.

The main problem is that Country of residence has tax implications, and who knows how shit is linked nowadays.

I can see this being a massive problem for a lot of long term residents of Thailand.

Do you remember the old days, when you had to re-confirm your return flight.

    What a pita that was.

In Singapore, 2009 I was required to supply details of an onward flight before they gave me a Thai tourist visa. I created a fake one with the help of a photocopier.

I knew they would not check details and only wanted paper for their bureaucracy. Screw em.

Would not do that today though
