Pattaya, at 7:30 AM on April 5th, 2025 Pattaya City Police discovered the body of a 40-year-old Chinese man, Mr. Ronghua Qiu, lying face-down in the sand behind a hotel near Yin Yom Beach in South Pattaya.

His arms were buried in the sand, his white shirt rolled up to his neck, and he was wearing long jeans. Nearby, police found a mobile phone, a single sandal, a passport, and a bank book registered in Chiang Rai.

An initial autopsy found scrapes on his forehead and neck, a gash above the right eyebrow, and blood coming from his nose. Doctors estimated he had been dead for 6–12 hours.

A hotel employee nearby who discovered the body said the man was likely not a hotel guest. Police later confirmed the deceased held a Thailand Privilege Card tourist visa and had been traveling in and out of Thailand since early 2023.

His latest residence was listed as a home in Jomtien, about 2–3 km from the scene.

Police suspect he may have slipped and hit his head on rocks before drowning, but his body has been sent to the Police General Hospital’s Forensic Institute for a full autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
