Authorities raided a commercial building in Pattaya and detained 16 foreign nationals, some without passports and others overstaying their visas.
On March 24th, Chonburi Immigration, along with local authorities, inspected a commercial building in Soi Central Pattaya 16 after receiving complaints from concerned citizens about a large number of illegal foreign residents.
The three-story building had businesses on the ground floor, including a restaurant and a traditional massage shop, while the upper floors were converted into rental rooms. Officers found 16 foreign nationals from Myanmar and India living there. They were taken in for questioning and to check their documents.
Two of them had no passports, and several had overstayed their visas. Authorities will take legal action against them and also charge the unidentified building owner for failing to report foreign tenants within 24 hours.
