Body of female foreign tourist found on Phuket's Kata Beach

Woman in swimming suit was likely dead for some time; no signs of foul play

A female foreign tourist was found dead on Kata Beach in Phuket, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Police were alerted to the incident at around 1.20pm on Wednesday, following a report from lifeguards at the popular tourist spot. The body of the woman, believed to be around 50 years old, was found with her face in the sand near the Karon Municipality Office.

Officers from the Karon Police Station, Phuket Tourist Police, and rescue personnel went to the scene.

The deceased was found wearing a swimsuit, with notable red rashes on her back and legs. A preliminary examination revealed no signs of foul play or injuries to suggest an assault.

"A lifeguard alerted us to a woman lying face down on the beach, who appeared to have been there for an extended period," said Sarawut Somboon, a lifeguard employed by Karon Municipality. "The colour of her skin suggested that she had been deceased for some time."

It is understood that the woman was travelling alone. Her nationality has yet to be officially confirmed, though she is believed to be of either Russian or European origin.

Forensic pathologists from Vachira Phuket Hospital have been contacted to conduct a thorough examination of the body, to determine the cause of death.

Elderly Canadian Woman Found Dead on Phuket Beach, Heat Stroke Suspected

Karon Police were notified of the discovery of a female body in the afternoon on Wednesday (March 5th). Upon arrival at the beach near Karon Municipality, they found the body of a foreign woman.

The deceased was lying face down on a cloth under an umbrella, wearing a swimsuit. Some parts of her skin on her back and legs appeared red, but there were no signs of a struggle.

A lifeguard informed the police that a beach bed operator noticed the woman had been sunbathing face down for an extended period.

The body was later identified as that of an 80-year-old Canadian woman. She had checked into a nearby resort alone on Monday (March 3rd) and was scheduled to check out on Thursday (March 6th). Her name was withheld by law enforcement.

Her body was taken to the Vachira Phuket Hospital to determine the cause of death. Preliminary examination by a doctor suggested that the tourist may have died from heat stroke.

She was quite game to travel to Thailand for a holiday on her own at 80 years old. I hope she didn't call out for help and got ignored.

I doubt it, probably went unconscious and then overheated. Or perhaps even had a myocardial infarction or stroke due to heat stress.

It doesn’t take a medical school degree to surmise she mostly like succumbed to a heat stroke related event.

I would rather wait for the result of the autopsy carried out by a medical professional than listen to the guesswork of teakdoors african toilet attendant and its ageing expat newsfeed obsessed nerd, neither of whom have anything resembling a medical qualification and whose only aims in life are childishly increasing their post counts and forcing their innacurate, improbable and irrelevant opinions on us.

Yes, because the Thai authorities are going to release the results of the autopsy to you. Get a grip, taxi, your increasing senility is showing through ever more regularly. Also, please understand that it matters not a wit to the authorities or family what a few posters discuss on an anonymous internet forum.

You’re the one that doesn’t get it tax, yet again.

Or do you really think you will be privy to the autopsy results?

Why on earth would I or the media be privy to the autopsy result, its a ridiculous comment.
My point was to ridicule harrys post. On what does he base his many conclusions about her death.

"Went unconscious and then overheated, or maybe had a heart attack, or it could have been a stroke"

Maybe she had an allergic reaction to suncream, maybe she had an aortic aneurism, maybe she was struck by lightning, maybe maybe maybe maybe. Best leave it to the professionals 'arry.

'arry, whose medical expertise probably extends no further than googling "what antibiotics should i take for chlamydia", makes an assumption about a cause of death based on nothing more than his obsessive need to continually post, just like his brother in arms, the gluttonous chimp.

Perhaps unsurprisingly to the non-halfwits, we got taught about this shit in the sandpit, because it's rather hot.

For some, it's not actually guesswork.

The chances are she died of non-heat stress related natural causes, or she died of heat stress related natural causes.

Either way, the only unusual thing is she did it on Kata Beach, where the usual causes of death are drowning or being run over by a boat driven by some Somchai with a Tax-level IQ.

natural cause of death occurs due to illness and its complications, or internal body malfunctions, and is not directly caused by external forces other than infectious diseases. e.g.include pneumonia, diarrheal diseases, cancer, a stroke, heart disease, and sudden organ failure.

In other words, it could have been anything. Admit it, you were just guessing.

A couple of things for you, you drooling retard:

Our T&I's in summer months took place only at night, because heat stress can - wait for it - kill even the young and fit.

And a late, elderly friend of mine passed away exactly this way, falling asleep pissed on a sun lounger in direct sunlight in the "cooler" months (say 35-40C) and never waking up.

Why do you hate being an ignoramus, we all make allowances for you, you know.

    Sure.
