Singaporean Tourist and Thai Woman Cause Chaos After Crashing Into Street Vendors Car

An allegedly intoxicated Singaporean tourist crashed into a street vendor’s cart in Pattaya early yesterday morning, leaving the vendor injured.

At 05:06 AM on January 10th, the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center received a report of a car colliding with a street vendor’s cart at the mouth of Soi Buakhao in Pattaya. Upon receiving the report, rescuers coordinated with Pattaya Police Station and responded to the scene.

At the scene, authorities found a Som Tum (papaya salad) street vendor cart severely damaged, with items scattered across the road. A silver Toyota Vios sedan was found at the scene with front-end damage. The driver, a tourist who appeared to be heavily intoxicated and possibly from Singapore, was found to be the one at fault.

The vendor, identified later as Mr. Sakda, 58 years old, suffered a head wound and abrasions on his body. Rescue workers provided first aid, but the vendor refused to go to the hospital because he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to pay for the treatment.

Meanwhile, a large crowd of onlookers clapped, laughed, and shouted in satisfaction as police officers took the driver and an unidentified Thai woman, who appeared to be the driver’s passenger, into custody.

The woman was reportedly shouting at the injured vendor, claiming he was faking his injuries, and attempted to claim she drove the car. She also caused a scene by allegedly harassing the local residents and obstructing the rescuers. The situation escalated until several people had to restrain her. The woman also claimed she knew high-ranking police officers and questioned how she was being arrested.

Witnesses stated that they saw the foreign man driving the car and crashing into the vendor’s cart. Instead of helping, he cursed at the vendor and claimed to be the victim.

Pol Lt Sombat Kaewmulmuk from Pattaya Police Station revealed that the woman, who was heavily intoxicated, claimed to be the driver. However, local residents stated that the foreigner was the actual driver. Authorities will review CCTV footage to identify the real driver and proceed with legal action.
