Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira reiterated today that Thais who are 60 and over will definitely receive the 10,000 baht financial support, under the “digital wallet” scheme, on January 29th.
To be entitled to the benefit, a person must:
- be a living Thai national who was at least 60 years old on September 15th, 2024.
- have annual taxable income of no more than 840,000 baht.
- have combined bank deposits not exceeding 500,000 baht at June 30th, 2024.
- have registered to claim the financial support through the “Thang Rath” application.
About three million elderly people are entitled to the taxpayer-funded benefit.
Last year, about 14.5 million disabled Thais and holders of state welfare cards received the 10,000 baht cash in Phase One of the scheme.
For other people who are yet to receive the financial support, it will be paid in the form of “digital currency”, but Pichai also said that the government is trying to secure sufficient funding for the scheme.
