Ratchaburi teacher arrested for molestation of students

Police in Ratchaburi province have arrested a teacher at a school in Suan Phueng district for allegedly molesting nine young students. The action was in response to a complaint about the teacher’s behaviour filed by a group of parents.

It is reported that the youngest student involved was just nine years old. His behaviour had changed and he was reluctant to go to school, according to his parents.

Another boy had allegedly been molested for four years, since he was in Grade 4. The assaults took place at the school, including in the teacher’s room, toilets and a mushroom plantation.

The parents told police that they met with the school’s director, who promised to investigate the allegations. Nothing happened, however, so the parents decided to file complaints with police.

The teacher was apprehended as he was leaving a provincial education office in Ratchaburi’s Muang district.

According to police, the teacher confessed to molesting many students, but said he was not sure whether the nine students in question were among his victims.

More students complain of molestation by teacher in Ratchaburi

The number of young students allegedly molested by a teacher at a school in Ratchaburi’s Suan Phueng district has risen from nine to 17.

The school’s director has already dismissed the teacher in question. Banjerd Unmaneerat, director of Ratchaburi’s educational office, said that the teacher previously worked as an assistant and was promoted to teacher about two years ago.

Police took the suspect into custody yesterday, after a group of parents sought police action against him.

They have alleged that he molested nine students, the youngest being just nine years old. According to his parents, their son’s behaviour had changed and he refused to go to school as a result.

The number of boys allegedly molested by the teacher has now risen to 17. The parents of 12 students have already filed complaints.

According to police, the teacher confessed to molesting a number of students, but could not remember how many and whether the original nine students, cited in the original complaints, were among his victims.
