A Thai electrician tragically lost his life after being electrocuted while repairing a ceiling fan at a agogo bar in Pattaya on the night of November 21st, 2024.
At 7:06 PM, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Center received a report of a fatal electrocution incident at a new agogo bar on Pattaya Walking Street. The full name of the gogo was withheld by request. Emergency responders immediately rushed to the scene, along with reporters from The Pattaya News.
Upon arrival, a crowd of shocked tourists had gathered outside the bar. Inside, Ms. Rungseeya (last name withheld upon request), 38, was sobbing over the loss of her husband, Mr. Payom, a 32-year-old electrician for the bar. His lifeless body was discovered on the ceiling above the bar’s entrance. Rescue workers struggled for over 30 minutes to retrieve the body due to the risk of getting electrocuted from electrical leakage.
Ms. Rungseeya recounted with The Pattaya News that her husband had climbed up to repair a ceiling fan. His final words were that he told her to test the fan. Moments later, she heard a spark and called out to him, but there was no response. Climbing up to check, she found him unconscious and immediately contacted rescue services. Tragically, it was too late to save him.
His body was transferred to a local hospital for an autopsy, while relevant authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
