Six airlines will add 247 flights between December 26 and January 5 to accommodate travellers during the upcoming New Year festival, and the public is encouraged to book tickets in advance, Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit has announced.
The additional flights and larger aircraft will provide 73,388 more seats, to meet high demand during the holidays, Suriya said.
This move aims to address the issue of expensive airfares and bookings became available from yesterday, including affordable ticket options.
He added that relevant authorities have been advised plan ahead to handle the large number of travellers.
The six airlines are Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, and Thai Vietjet Air.
Passengers are advised to allow extra time to reach the airport, as traffic congestion is expected during the holiday period.
