Northern Thailand Faces Cooler Weather, Heavy Rain Expected in the South

On November 5th, 2024, the Meteorological Department of Thailand issued a warning about changing weather patterns affecting the country from November 5th to 6th.

A moderate to strong high-pressure system from China will extend over northern Thailand and the South China Sea from November 5th to 6th. This will bring cooler temperatures, particularly to the Northeast, where morning temperatures will drop slightly.

Mountainous areas may experience cold to very cold conditions, with residents advised to take precautions against the chilly weather.

Farmers in the north are advised to protect their crops from potential damage caused by the cooler weather, while residents are encouraged to take care of their health during this temperature drop.

In the southern provinces, a monsoon trough combined with a low-pressure system will result in heavy to very heavy rain. This could lead to dangerous conditions, including flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying and hillside areas.

The department urges residents in the South to stay alert, particularly those living near rivers and flood-prone regions. People in the southern region should prepare for possible disruptions due to severe rainfall and flood risks.

Certainly a nip in the air.

Have had the sofa blanket pulled over me since this morning.

Might need to invest in a pair of big fluffy slippers if it gets any colder.

Taut means tight rather than slack. The tightrope ought to be taut and not dangling down by the lion cage. It sounds like the word "taught" and means stretched tight, like a rope, muscles, or even nerves.

Miserable drizzle seems to be the order of the day, until the 8th if the seers are to be believed.

    Lovely and cool though.

While I am not back home yet, my wife says it's much cooler. I do see it rains on our CCTV every night.

In this part of Isan the temperature dropped a couple of degrees three days ago, pleasant at night were the mozzies not here. No rain at all, sunny and dry.
The local farmers have just started cutting rice this week. They are all hoping for dry weather now.

The best way to deal with such subarctic conditions.

Sofa + blanket + big bowl of boiling brothy soup.

Yup. Ordered fluffy slippers on lazada yesterday. Hopefully it won't be 50 degrees in the shade when they arrive.

I sure hope you guys are kidding about slippers and pajamas and duvets. FCS it's only what. 15c to 17c there?

It's 4 or 5c here in Napa Valley every morning and I am still wearing shorts and short sleeve shirts and I sleep with a light sheet with the window open. Of course my wife is bundled up like an Eskimo but still wears her flip flops

Good thing as I didn't want to know specifics, I just wanted to understand your term "Gone Native". That could be full naked and if that's the case my potential trip your way has been shelved.
